I've got a shoulder mount of a six point and I've got a euro of an eight point and an antler mount of an eight. It's all about what that particular kill/hunt meant to me and how I wanted to preserve the memory. Finances and display location were also considered beforehand.

I thought that might be one of your mounts lol. That's horrible.

If you only have 40 acres it's not likely you are going to see much bigger come across unless you are surrounded by 1000's of acres that manage with a min spread/pt count. My dad mounted my first 8 point and it only had a 14 inch inside. He had never killed one that big which seems small now when you listen to all the fence hunters. I'd mount it. The taxi can take care of small blemishes from dragging across rock. But I have to ask as someone else did, why drag? lift him up and put him on the four wheeler, gator, ect.....

Ohh I tried to lift him. 185lb of dead weight is hard to lift by yourself. If it were 40deg out today, I might have waited and tried a little harder but i was trying to get him skinned asap.
Think I made up my mind to shoulder mount him. Looked at all the trail cam pics from the last couple months and he's cream of the crop.

I was not questioning your strength as we would all have issue with lifting a 185 lb deer. This isn't the OT were everybody lifts 350, dates 9.8's and kills 160# on the reg. I typically have rope to lift and field dress and back the four wheeler under. You did what you needed and it's a good deer. Congrats.

My first and only buck was a 7 point. It was a great story which I've told here before. I was 17. He's shoulder mounted. To this day I've never seen a more quality taxidermy job. He looks alive. So glad I got it done. $350 well spent IMO

Shoulder mount man come on! That's a damn fine buck! You put the time in to kill that rascal and get it out of the woods.

That's a nice buck. I would do a shoulder mount. I killed a nice a 7 point about five years ago that had 7-8 g1 and all the other tines were long. The spread was only about 13.5. Everytime I see that rack I wanna kick myself in the arse for not mounting. Pretty good story for that deer that I'll share another day.

I think taxidermist usually have a few extra hides laying around. You still have the option of getting it mounted. It won't be the original hide, but it's not like anyone will know the difference, probably even you.

All depends on you. I don't mount usually unless it's over 150". I've got dozens of 140"s so wouldn't make sense. I know guys that mount dinks though and are as happy as when I kill a 160". Doesn't matter what anyone thinks but you. I usually pay $400 for a shoulder mount.
For some odd reason I just spent awhile reading your post history. You truly are a lying worthless piece of shite. FWIW.

Shoulder it, I mean I love some euros and you can make them pretty cool. I tried and have had mixed success with different bases. But if its your biggest or biggest in a while definitely shoulder.
Here is the last euro I did, while I like it my big boy is at the taxi right now. You won't be sorry. My last shoulder was $500.
