BTW, just to see what would happen, I just submitted a purchase limit order to buy BAC, 1,000 shares at $17.35. I'm curious what the game will do for orders submitted now even though the start date is not until January. It decreased my available purchasing power so it seems like the order is "pended."

ETA: I just found where you can see pending orders and my order is there and shows the 'activation date' is 1/2/15 so it looks like the order will just sit there until then.

Very nice to know cause I was just sitting here thinking that I will be out until January 5th. As it gets closer to time I will start placing some orders.

ETA: I clicked on your profile and "orders" are hidden. I guess that is a good thing for you, I was just going to mimic your portfolio.

There is a 'cancel order' button next to each pending order so we can play around with it and cancel anything we don't like before 1/2/15. That's a good feature which allows us to learn how to enter orders without any consequences until the start date.

I'm impressed with the ease of the trading process so far. ETA: In case you missed my edit of my earlier post, I also put in a short sale order and it's works nicely. Easy to do. Much easier than the real thing on Schwab's StreetSmartPro irl trading platform.

You better be, you picked the site!

I will try to keep this bumped on the first page anyway throughout the weekend. Have a good weekend all!

That's one thing I really hope to get out of this. Learning how to short stocks and just the options market in general.

All I did was google "online investing simulation games" or something like that and the MarketWatch link was the first one that came up.

I don't see where this game allows using options.

I'll probably get my arse handed to me, but maybe I'll learn a thing or 2 in the process. Let's do this!

I'd be willing to throw in a small sum of money to contribute to the winners pot ($10-20) if everybody wanted to do that.

I'm in as well.

I like the idea of everyone throwing in $5- $20. Just makes it interesting.

Well I am in, if you guys want to do PayPal or something let me know.

I plan on doing dividend trades, not very experienced with anything else.

Will this take the dividend profits into account?

Dividends would absolutely count.

Who do we trust to take everyone's money? I personally don't want to be responsible.

Need someone who is pretty well established around here. Maybe that fizz guy or LSURussian if they are up to it.

If $20 is too much ( I think we have a lot of college kids here too), we can do $5. More people the better. I'm not sure anyone really cares about the money.

What say you young whipper snappers?

You say dividends count, and I think they should, but to be honest I have no clue. This is something new for I am guessing everyone. It is not a big deal to me to give a gift card to the winner, but with so many unknowns, it would be hard for me to get behind a big pot. This isn't exactly fantasy football where we know all the rules. That and I personally have no way to keep everyone's funds, no paypal.

If some want to throw some money in and have a pot, cool, but I don't think everyone should due to the many unknowns I how this will go. If this goes good this year and we get a good feel for it am everyone agrees on the rules, I would be down for doing it next year.

Excuse any typos, on mobile.
