I know a few Arubans. Good people.

My sister and her family just went for a week in October. They seemed to enjoy themselves.

I haven't been personally, but my parents went a couple of years after the Natalie Holloway incident. They said the locals were amazingly friendly(not just the ones that work at the resorts). They know what keeps their economy going, and they really appreciate the tourists. My parents really loved going and they stayed in a great all inclusive resort. It's definitely some where I'd like to go.

I hear Kokomo is a lot nicer. You can get there fast and take it slow.

Went diving in Bonaire two consecutive Christmases with the family. (Aruba is in same small island chain, FYI).

Definitely a good time.
We were busy diving most of the time, but I remember going to a national park on the north end of the island- flamingos, some cave paintings from indigenous people, etc.
South end of the island had salt ponds- they pool ocean water and let it evaporate, then harvest the salt. Crazy seeing a 20 ft. tall hill made of chunks of salt.

I'm sure sailing, fishing is an option as well, but not something we had time for.

Wife and I went for our honeymoon.
It is a nice, safe place with plenty of touristy things for you to do.
The food is expensive.

We took some horseback riding thing and part of the stops was a natural pool that is pretty cool.

Same experience we had except that we didn't stay in an all inclusive. I would recommend staying at one of the resorts on the not so touristy side of the island and dining at the local places. We really enjoyed it.
