I think Temple of the Dog rocks harder but Mad Season's Above is a much more musically diverse and better written album overall.

I am more fond of Mad Season. I always was one to lean towards Layne Staley vocals of all the Seattle bands.

Very fond of Chris Cornell, but I dislike Vedder. So that was the turn off for me if I was to choose between these two.

Temple of the Dog easily since it has more than one good song. Neither album is all that great.

What makes you say that?

I really enjoy the mood on Above

Temple of the Dog is just another Grunge album basically

Both had some success with one hit. Temple of the Dog has two solid hits

Mad Season. It's not even a contest to my ears. Above is one of my very favorite albums from the 90s, but the TOTD stuff just doesn't do much for me. If I wanna hear Cornell wail I'll cue up Badmotorfinger.

Temple of the Dog although I can't listen to either album from start to finish.

He's a bit player really on the Temple of the Dog album.

Huge fan of Staley's but the music just stands up taller on TOTD.

Call me a dog and say hello to heaven are the best songs on either album IMO. Almost the entire mad season album comes next, then a couple temple songs round out the bottom.

I don't like them. The Mad Season album is boring. Cornell's voice is kind of annoying on Temple of the Dog.
