The Southern Maid right off the commercial gate of Barksdale has the best blueberry cake donuts anywhere. Get them about 7 AM and they are warm.

Here are some pics of the cake donuts at the aforementioned Big Easy Beignets in Denham... they are legit. Shown are strawberry cake, blueberry cake, and red velvet.

Those look pretty legit. I love Red Velvet Cake.

District Donuts are good but they are too cakey for me. Not light enough

Warm cinnamon sugar donuts + apple cider at Yates Cider Mill in Rochester Hills, MI.

I too struggle with staying away from them. My only weakness is when the attending physician who only works Sunday mornings brings in a dozen from Donut Barn here in Jackson. There is no better way to end a Saturday night shift than with that delicious, though no where near the best, morsel of fried goodness.
Favorite- Harlow's Donuts in Pineville. Only donut shop growing up on that side of the Red. Didn't help that it was also 1/2 mile from my high school and you could grab a dozen donut holes and a chocolate milk for $3 in less than a minute.

Donut King in Lake Charles and Dino's in Westlake are the best.

Port Allen bakery is my all time fav.
KK is good, but overwhelming sweet.
most of the time we go to Mary Lees b/c it's about a mile from my house.

Are you people crazy? How could this thread be 4 pages without someone saying Cafe du Monde?
By a large margin.
I've been to Blue Dot, delivering a large hobart mixer bowl I sold them on eBay, and their Maple Bacon Eclairs were pretty good. Another honorable mention goes to KK, especially the glazed when they're hot.

Has anyone had the buttermilk drops from Manhattan jacks on prytania? YUMM! I Never wake up on time to get them before they are sold out, so I end up settling for the bear claw- which is absolutely divine as well.

* buttermilk drops are like giant donut holes

I like dunkin donuts, specifically chocolate glaze and the glaze with the strawberry pink icing
