First, let me say that i hate to think about Fitzgerald ever leaving NW, what he has done there is nothing short of amazing. Having said that, it seems like NW has hit a wall. Is Fitzgerald burnt out? It has to take a TON of enthusiasm and effort just to make NW competitive. It makes you wonder if approached by the right school, would he ever leave? Again, i just think that NW has reached a glass ceiling and i think Fitzgerald knows it. Would LSU fans be open to Fitzgerald as HC if Miles were to take the Michigan job? I honestly think that would a great move for both parties. Thoughts?

You're not going to sell anybody on a coach with 2 straight 5-7 seasons. In fact, other than that run in 2012, 4 of his last 5 years were .500 or worse. No thank you

Not a bad hire for anybody. Just not LSU.

Fitzgerald 's only leaving Evanston in one of two ways , in a box or with police escort. He's a NW alumnus, he was there when the program turned around in 1995 and he stepped into the fire when the previous NW coach died before the season started a few years ago. He loves the place, and they love him.

Not really. Barnett and Walker were more successful

I think Fitz would've listened to offers had he been able to follow up their 10 win season and bowl victory with more success. It's been a struggle for him to get fan and university support.

Unfortunately, NU has imploded since blowing the Ohio State game last year. As tough as it is to win in Evanston, they should be able to get bowl eligible and they haven't done so for 2 years. I don't think he's going anywhere now.

they really shouldn't... they still hold the longest losing streak in FBS history

they were never a factor when the B1G was the BIG TEN

True, but that was decades ago.

They won 3 conference titles in 6 years under Barnett and Walker. Fitz got them to 5 straight bowls before the last couple of seasons.

I know they are a poor program historically, but the B1G is currently down and 6 wins is attainable. It's not like they're losing 9-10 games a year anymore.
