Hard to see Boom going anywhere but USC as DC after reading this article

Might as well start looking somewhere else Auburn

In an age when friendly rivalries tend to take a backseat to the daily grind and pressures of coaching in the SEC, Muschamp and Spurrier have developed a genuine friendship over the past three and a half years.
quote:
When you strip them to their core, they have a lot in common.
“Will is a good guy, a good coach and a good family guy,’’ Spurrier said.
quote:
For all their similarities, there is a one difference in their coaching backgrounds: Muschamp made his name as a defensive guru, and Spurrier is known for his offensive mind.
They share a mutual respect in part due to their varied philosophies.
“I’ve got great respect for Coach Spurrier,’’ Muschamp said. “How he does his job. What he’s accomplished. What he stands for. He’s a guy that’s always intrigued me as a coach. He’s a Hall of Fame football coach and it’s an honor to be able to talk to him about our profession and to build a friendship.”

Possible. But it's still too early to claim Boom is leaning in one direction or another, imo.

We're told Spurrier talked twice with Muschamp Tuesday. Muschamp, along with DC opportunities, is waiting to see what other HC opportunities

Spurrier offered the job. Muschamp took some time to think and then called back to accept

SC makes the most sense. The fanbase doesn't have the expectations of an auburn or tamu, so boom could conceivably anchor the defense for two years and then slide into the HC role when spurrier retires for a crack at redemption at an sec school. He wouldn't have that opportunity at auburn or tamu

His Defenses at Texas were so so with elite talent, marginally better at Florida with NFL talent. He will be a decent DC but the guy is no savior and you cant recruit UT or UF talent, but that's none of my business.

I would hitch my wagon to Spurrier, if you do well enough you might get a promotion when he retires.
Sumlin doesn't seem to get it, as a head coach, that's been pretty bad defense to be over the last couple of years and it is ultimately his responsibility. Spurrier is not as much hurry up which helps your defense. Better talent at USC to win now.

USC has finished ahead of one of those schools the past two years and is currently ahead of both
Recruiting rankings aren't everything either. Tennessee is always in the top 10 and they just made their first bowl game in 3 years
