Ok so here's an idea. The MLS Cup Final is this Sunday, December 7th, at 2 PM CST on ESPN (which means it starts two hours into the Saints game and 4/5 of the games that day... good job Garber). Get a friend and a copy of FIFA 15 and play LA vs NE. Then come here and explain how the game went down.

I played my roommate, who was LAG to my NER.

NE controlled things at the start. Penedo followed up his shite performance against the Sounders this past Sunday... with another shite performance, fouling Teal Bunbury in the box early on. Lee Nguyen converts the penalty. 1-0 NER. Game then swings the other direction, and Donovan puts in a pinpoint cross from the left on a fast break. Gyasi Zardes beats Goncalves in the air... and heads it straight up to himself, causing the keeper Shuttleworth to jump and fall down for no reason what so ever. Zardes then beats Goncalves in the air for a second time on the play and heads it into an empty net. 1-1.

Next two goals both came from the Revs, first with a hard shot at Penedo causing him to make a diving save, which beautifully laid the ball at the feet of Lee Nguyen on the corner of the 6 yard box for the tap in, and the second coming in the 45th minute on a Charlie Davies breakaway. 3-1.

After halftime Robbie Keane decided to go beast mode. First he juked a man in the box and fired a shot which Shuttleworth was only able to deflect back at the onrushing Keane, who knocked it goalwards... only to have it blatantly cherry picked on the line by Gyasi Zardes. Then in the 80th minute Keane ties it up, receiving a Juninho pass at the top of the box and with his back to the CBs, majestically turning 180 and shooting it upper ninety in the same god damn movement.

Classic extra time resulted in lots of close calls but ultimately no goals after 30 minutes, and the tiebreaker (restart with same teams, switch to all out attack, golden goal - because PKs blow) was won by the Revs with a Scott Caldwell strike from inside the 18 which Penedo deflected... directly back to Scott Caldwell, who finished from a tight angle near the corner of the six.

TL;DR: Game tied 3-3 AET. Scott Caldwell decides the tie. Revs win the cup.

Overall a pretty plausible way for this one to play out. I see it being back and forth with the potential to be high scoring. Probably not 3-3, but who knows.

When would you rather it be played? Play it today, and it's competing against college football for viewers.

Fans in LA, Portland, Columbus, Salt Lake, etc. don't have local NFL teams to watch tomorrow (even NE plays a night game), while they all have local college teams. Makes more sense to go up against NFL games in this situation, if you ask me.

Just finished.

I played as NE, friend played as LA. Game started out pretty cagey. Not much happened and it was back and forth. 25th minute the Revs had some great build up and Nguyen played a beautiful ball to Fagundez who struck it first time and rocketed the ball just inside the far post from the edge of the 18. 1-0 Revs.

The Revs had control of the game after this and Nguyen played provider 10 minutes later. He made a great run between the LB/CB and sent a cross near post to Bunbury who got across his man to nod in a header. 2-0 at halftime.

The 2nd half was pretty bland. LA did come close through Donovan in the 75th minute. Nguyen had a nice curling effort saved in the dying stages of the game. 2-0 final. NE are the champions.

I think the revs taking this one is a very real possibility. Although I have to say that I'm hoping for Landy to go out on top. Scoring the winning goal would be icing on the cake.
