I'm on the second floor of an apartment building too. Pretty creepy stuff

Experienced one about 4 months back. Creeped me out too.

Happens once a year here here in the Bay Area. Still rattles me evertime. Reminds me how little we control in this world.

Have experienced many (obviously), but I still get creeped out every time.

There was a 4.7 about 20 minutes ago near Sedona/Flagstaff AZ

That would be the one I experienced
I also had all the lights off because I was watching The Walking Dead, so extra spooky

Are you serious? I have been in earthquakes way more powerful than that but a 4.7 is no joke, NOTHING scares me like a strong earthquake.

Yep, my place was really rocking

Only experienced one here in Florida, and it scared the hell outta me

That's wild. The one I experienced a couple months ago was in SE AZ. Didn't think there was that much activity in the state.

Where are you? I didn't feel anything in Scottsdale which is weird because I should have felt at least a little something from a 4.7 90 miles away. I googled it and its legit which sucks because I want to retire half the year in Sedona in a few years and I hate earthquakes.

Being next to an erupting volcano or in the path of an oncoming EF5 tornado would be equally "oh frick" to me as a very strong quake. (Depending on where I am, wouldn't want to be in a tall building or on a bridge though)

Of course but with those you have some warning, an earthquake happens with not even one second warning and you never know how bad it is gonna be. Thats what makes them so scary.

I almost literally drove into an F4 at night years ago, even though I knew weather was bad I had no idea that was there and it all escalated so quickly.
Was less than 100 yards before I was able to see it was there, because of the strobe lightning. Car was blown off the road in the u turn, but I managed to get back on and get away with it on my arse.
Felt like the T rex chase in Jurassic park.

Depends on the kind of soil you're on and how far you're away. I'm on bedrock and don't feel anything lighter than a 5.0 and even then it's light. Some soils can make a moderate quake seem pretty spooky though.

Yep, we had a 6.0 right here in DC.

I experienced one before. I woke up to the entire room shaking. It was one of the craziest things I have ever experienced in my entire life. My first thought was, "I hope this building doesn't collapse on me."
When that was over, my second thought was, "I hope a tsunami doesn't wash us away."
It was both scary and exciting at the same time.
