Would you call Fournettes freshman year impressive, or were you looking for more?

IMO, I would call it a start to an impressive career.

Absolutely, especially in this offense.

I would call it a solid year and I think he will only get better. But I saw little on the field that justified the preseason hype.

5.1 yards a carry is pretty good for a freshmen, regardless of whether he is playing for an offense that sucks or not.

people expected Adrian Peterson #s, but peterson got 339 carries. Ribs don't get that kind of work load anymore, especially at LSU. Not to mention that Peterson was on a good offense, and played no real defenses.

By "saw little on the field" do you mean you didn't actually watch any games?

He needed 2000 yards in an offense that cant complete a forward pass to impress.

I saw a kid who's going to be very good. But I saw nothing that makes me think he is the second coming or any sign that he will be any better than Jeremy Hill or Todd Gurley. Not trying to be controversial. Just my opinion.

Did Hill or Gurley play in the most terrible offense ever?

I hope his next year goes like Tre Mason's did.

Mason 2012 - 171 car 1002 yards 8 TDs

QBs 2012 - 147/257 1879 yards 8 TDs 15 ints

Mason 2013 - 317 car 1816 yards 23 TDs

QBs 2013 - 173/285 2422 yards 20 TDs 8 ints

Fournette 2014 - 176 car 891 yards 8 TDs (1 game left)

QBs 2014 - 131/262 1967 yards 16 TDs 9 ints (1 game left)

Surprisingly, Jennings was better than any QB they had on roster that year.

Just think of what Fournette's #s with Harris will be.

He has a good chance of breaking LSUs freshman rushing record and did it vs a stacked box 80% of the time or more. Hell, if we would have had just an average passing attack, LF would have most likely already broken the record and had an even better YPC and more TDs. Because he's doing all of his work vs a stacked box and defenses keying on him. Do yall remember the running lanes Hill had last year? That was because teams couldn't stack the box on us due to our passing attack. Develop just a solid passing attack and LF does better and people wouldn't be saying he didn't live up to the hype or any of that. People would be talking about how great he is. He's been this good as a true freshman with no passing game at all.

Yea I would say it's a very impressive freshman year and he's only going to get better. Think about that. He's an extremely hard worker and has the desire and ambition to be great and he wants to be great. He's nowhere near a finished product yet. Not even close. When he is, he's going to be that special player everyone thougt he would be.

That is a valid point. And I know I'm in a no win situation in this thread. I love Fournette. I'm just talking about my opinion that he often ran looking for contact instead of hitting the hole and he's not as fast as I thought. But I wouldn't be surprised to see him make All-SEC next season. He's a good player. I just wasn't as impressed in his initial season as I thought I'd be.

It was a solid season. Barry Sanders couldn't meet the hype that was created around LF.

Yes. If he had been given more than 5 carries in 3-4 games he would be our all time leading rusher for a freshman season. And he could still be in the top 3 all time with a big bowl game performance. So yeah, I'm not disappointed....

Given that we had the worst QB in the nation and every team we played loaded the box and dared us to run…yeah pretty damn impressive
