If these riots continue for a considerable length of time, say 6 months or longer, will this hurt the Dems in 2016?

You can bet your sweet bibby it will.

People forgive and forget too easily in this country...so I doubt it.

Perhaps they are rioting because the highly publicized trial won't impact the 2016 election.....since no trial will occur.

Trust me, the media will dwell on another bullshite case in 2016. That would help the Dems, not hurt them.

What will hurt Dems is SCOTUS gutting Obamacare in a few months.

After that, what will remain of their record over an 8 year span? A steaming cowpaddy.

Hillary will be officially in within six months. She will have to answers questions about this. Notice how you haven't heard anything from her concerning these riots? There's a reason.

Its widely viewed that both Eric Holder and barack obama are sympathetic to the rioters. Its not going to help any dem candidate to be asked specific questions about Ferguson.

Neither did Obama's election in '08. Neither did the elections a few weeks ago.

Say these protest linger on for a while inflicting more property damage and personal safety concerns. How does a democratic candidate respond to questions about the shooting and subsequent rioting without risking alienating either the black vote of the independent white vote? There's a fine line hillary and the others are going to have to walk.

Now, had Obama or Holder made an announcement saying they support the grand jury decision and strongly denounced the riots that would have made for a different dialogue. But they didn't.

It probably won't have any impact as 2016 is about 50 years from now in political terms. But, if it has any, it will only provide motivation for the "trod upon " impoverished minorities to turn out for a wealthy, incompetent, entitled white female who only views them as useful idiots.

If the Democrats are smart they will use this anger to increase turnout. If blacks don't like the system they can riot which doesn't change the system that much or they can vote which will change the system.

Black anger can be directed to the polls in presidential elections. So Republicans have a vested interest in continuing riots and a white backlash to try to counteract any increased black turnout.

Look for conservatives and the GOP to look for more things to cause riots. Riots helped the Republicans in 1968 and 1972 and it can help them again.

Machiavelli thought that riots were a secret source of virtue and vigor in states. I agree.

The R's need to worry about nominating a candidate who doesn't look like a lunatic to middle America, and how many Senate seats they'll be defending, not some hypothetical long term riot scenario. And other than a few nights in the immediate vicinity of Ferguson, what's been happening across the country this week could hardly be called riots by any reasonable definition.

^^^

All those soccer mommies who voted for Obama to show that they are not racists are not going to want more of the same with Hillary.

This is going to be Obama's chickens coming home to roost. Right on Hillary's head.

Actually, I'm wrong. It's bippy.
