So i'm 24, have only been hunting for the past 3 years or so and the deer aren't extremely plentiful where we hunt. Have only seen a few does...

It's 5:20, getting dark, about ready to throw my pack over my shoulder to leave the stand when I turn around and where i'd least expect to see them ( the trail I walk in on) 2 bucks cross a canal and walk up. One an 8 pt and one a spike. Naturally I'm extremely nervous since I've never killed one, but I imagine this feeling won't soon fade. Get my gun up, take a deep breath to steady myself, and dropped the 8pt in its tracks. Broke the base of the neck. Not a huge deer (142lbs) but still a hell of a first kill in my book.

I'm not one to brag but Ik I enjoy when others share this type of stuff on here.
gentlemen

That's awesome man. Congrats. That's a nice first deer. Took me quite a few deer to get to that size.

That's awesome to kill your first deer and its a buck. It should eat great. I hope u were able to gut it cleanly so the meat is all good.

good job on he first deer!
I have a similar situation. I hunt my FIL's 40 acre track. I started when I was 23yrs old. Killed a doe the first time ever hunting. we don't have many deer but the ones we do have know to come out at night. I learned quickly to stay in the stand until the end. the last 2 minutes make a difference. Contracts again

First good deer is something you will never forget. All the rest, it's just meat.
