I believe that the license allows Harrahs the right to have card games, craps, roulette, etc. No one else can do that.

Not quite. Most qualifying business can install up to 3 video poker machines. Truck stops have their own special qualification. They are allowed to have up 50 video poker machines if they sell over 100,000 gallons of fuel a month, 40,000 of which must be diesel.
By having more than 3 video poker machines they can call themselves a "casino"

The casino floor at Lauberge LC will float. After hurricane Rita it was six to seven foot higher than the hotel building. But the building didn't flood because it only sits in a few feet of water to begin with.

As far as land based casinos, Delta Downs in Vinton has a land based casino though IIRC it's only slots and other machines. No table games. I have never been to it because Kinder and Lake Charles casinos are enough for me but I remember the big war between Delta and the existing casinos over allowing it.

It's something about the table games, because Louisiana Dawns I. bossier has slots/video poker.
As for Margaritaville, I believe that it's technically in water, just not in the river. They created a pool and set the 'boat' int the water, so it's floating, it's just not subject to the rise and fall of the river. Sam's Town and El Dorado are like that, too, you can just see the water that they are sitting in. If the river rises up to where Margaritaville is, they're going to have a serious problem, since they don't have a ramp to compensate for the rise and fall of the river.

As a Libertarian, gambling laws really piss me off. I don't gamble because it is just throwing away money, but why is it so regulated and restricted? People should have the right to do what they damn well please as long as they are not infringing on the rights of another person. If they want to risk all of their money gambling, they should be allowed to do so. And any casino should be allowed anywhere in the state, land or otherwise. Government needs to get the hell out of the way.

Correct. Louisiana law limits the amount of gaming permits to 15 riverboats and 1 land based.

Which law cockblocks us from playing fanduel, or the other weekly fantasy sport games?
I also can't win credits when I play Golden Tee, like pretty much every state does.
This really pisses me off. Anybody have a list of the people we can vote out of office to change this?

I agree. The only thing I do believe needs to be regulated is the games, so the casinos don't tilt it more towards themselves than it already is.

All the racetracks in Louisiana are just slots, and it is all tied in to purse money and incentives for the horses. A lot if it is way over my head, but if tx gets slots, racing in Louisiana will die a slow and painful death.

Again, no regulation is required. The free market will take care of that. If the games are too skewed in the favor of the house and people rarely win, they will stop coming to that casino and go to one where they can win more. The free market is always the best answer.

That's right, all the original riverboat casinos that used to cruise are still required to have a captain and crew on board at all times to be in compliance with USCG regulations even though they don't sail.
Cush job is being the riverboat captain of a ship that doesn't even sail.
