This movie will be split down the middle on the board like Star Trek.
Some people will enjoy it and love it for being a great movie and the hardcore Star Wars guys will be pissed over significant or even tiny changes to the beloved franchise

Out of all of the supernerds out there, they are the most unbearable. Comic book nerds are a close second.

Doesn't that defeat the purpose as the guard would be meant to protect the hands FROM the light saber?
I'm thinking that another lightsaber laser is the only think that could act as a guard since the guard is meant to keep the opposing laser from moving past the hilt and hitting the hand. A lightsaber would cut right through metal or anything else that could be used as a guard except for another lightsaber laser.
Now with that said, the person wielding that thing better have an extremely strong grip because if it slips it'll definitely take off the users hand.

Many of the stormtroopers in the original trilogy were regular human volunteers. I think in Episode 3 they mentioned that the clones were too easily manipulated, and it's likely that most of the clones are dead by Episode 7, given that the Empire no longer exists. I think they also cloned other bounty hunters who were deemed fit for the job.
It could be that he isn't a stormtrooper, and is just wearing the armor.
I'm in full boner mode after this teaser. The sounds of the TIE fighters really got me.

The description of the movie from a couple of weeks ago already ruined this movie for me, and I am a massive Star Wars fan. This trailer did nothing to bring me back to excitement for this movie. What possible benefit could there be to having the hilt for the lightsaber be tiny lightsabers? That was so stupid. The lightsaber is "an elegant weapon" mainly because it is sleek and highly efficient. Then the robot riding a soccer ball gave me Jar Jar Binks flashbacks. I'll need a great trailer to get me excited for this movie once again.

Guilty as charged. I've read many books in the extended universe and am already peeved that they are throwing that 40 years of plotline into the garbage. If there is no Mara Jade or no Anakin Solo, I will be quite upset.
