I'm tired of parents coddling their kids... Long Story, but tried to keep short.

So two couples (who have been friends for 14 years) that I've been friends with for about 7 years had a bit off a falling out several months ago and haven't spoken since. Kinda left me in the middle.

It all stated with couple A's wife saying something to couple B's 20 year old daughter about the daughter taking one of her beers and giving it to a 17 year old that left then drove and left the gathering. Couple B's daughter then had a smart arse response and eventually shoved Couple A's wife.

This resulted in Couple A's wife defending herself in some manner (non of us really saw it happen which is part of the problem). Anyway Couple B's wife has of course sided with her daughter who claims she was attacked.. that's all fine and dandy, even though I don't believe it...

What bothers me is Couple B's wife acts like her daughter was some victim of child abuse, claiming that an Adult hit her kid and left bruises on her (one very small bruise that looked more like a hickey on her arm to me). And claiming that Couple A's wife would throw a fit if she had hit her kids (who are 8 and 12).

What the frick? The daughter is 20 years old, she's a fricking adult. I know she is her daughter and so she is very protective of her, but come the frick on. She could be married and have her on family at the age of 20.

This type of parenting and coddling is ruining the progression of children into adults.

Can't do pic's but from my knowledge of OT standards you would hit couple B's wife and Couple B's daughter, and you would hit couple A's wife after a few beers.

All that shite you wrote in the OP, all of it, is in no way how normal, respectful human beings act.

Scruffy is sorry to say this, but those people sound like terrible individuals and that 20 year old obviously was not raised correctly.

Scruffy knows that it is thrown around too often on here, but that story was trashy.

to be honest, I thought the whole thing was a bit trashy too.. but in 14 years of them being friends nothing like this has happened, and in the 7 years I've been with them nothing like this has happened or have I seen anything like it. They are all good people and have never been trashy to my knowledge before this incident.

From what I can tell, no one's kid is ever at fault anymore no matter what and that is definitely one of the problems today.
Kid gets an F on a test? Must be the teacher's fault.
Kid steals a candy bar from the store? Oh, he's just a kid.
Kid hits some other kid at school? Oh, not my kid. But if he did do it, I'm sure there was a good reason.

frick parents these days. They suck and they're raising a generation of entitled little shits.

Too complicated to follow... All I remember is a 20 year-old girl, drinking and violence. I'm hard now.

That's a lot of words & very little info. There's not enough there to even give an opinion, lol. What are the husbands saying?

Agreed. Actually Couple B is pretty good with blaming there kids in the right situations and punishing them if need be. I hang out with these people on a weekly basis, they are closer than my family in a lot of ways.
