Unions are supposed to protect workers. Union bosses have exploited the workers as much as the owners.

yeah just because something was positive historically doesn't mean that it's necessary today

unions are vestigial appendages to the american psyche

It would really help if yall would educate yourselves the history of the labor movement and how and why unions came to be. It wasn't all that long ago when workers had essentially zero protections.

No, education about a political topic wont happen here, just redundant, ignorant talking points the hive repeats.

Boy your generation just has such a blind and misguided trust of big business. Its not unlike worship. What could go wrong huh?

Sign up an injured worker, not a back sprain but someone that's lost a limb, had a cement mixer dropped on them offshore and they are paralyzed from the waist down, had a logging chain rip their hand off, etc.

You will get to see the real underside of big business, the part where they don't give two shits about people once they cant make them money anymore.

BONUS: You will make a ton more money opposed that ham and egg shite you are doing now.

I've never understood public sector unions, seems like a conflict of interest to me.

Like many have said private sector unions were very much needed back in the day to help insure occupational health and safety. Today's unions are fairly toothless for the most part. I'm management now in a partially union facility. Every 3 years contract bargaining takes place (industry wide not site specific) the unions get what the company's offer, nothing more nothing less every time. They still collect dues but really accomplish next to nothing.

Yeah, because everyone who is anti-union is pro-big business

Btw, please show me some examples of what safety measures unions have accomplished in the past decade or two that weren't already against the law or regulated by the govt. Bc, that is what you are arguing the point of a Union is with those examples you have given.

Thanks

That's what OSHA and worker's comp are for.

I'm a lot better off than I would be if my company were unionized. One less hand in my pocket. A union also would have held back my advancement.

If they are a socialist, social democrat, liberal, or anti-corporation it's an easy mindset.

Unions are hated in this country by conservatives because they actually fear workers organizing and challenging capitalism. The idea that the people who labor should get a greater share of profits is hated by conservatives.

If they were so great, why are union participation rates at the lowest in history

Or why, when given a chance, did 50% of union workers in WI opt out, when Walker got his legislation passed

I can't relate to the mindset that is incapable of understanding and accepting that their own narrow view of the world is not the only one.
