I love how Fantasy Leagues are declared a skill set vs sportswagering's UIGEA labeling of gambling. What a farce!

Professional gambling's Billy Walters, Billy Baxter, Spiros Athanas, Zeljko Ranogajec, Q The Chinaman, Henry, Skip,etc..win at a much more consistent clip than Fantasy's Peter Jennings or Chris Prince can ever dream of. And wager infinitely more money than the best Fantasy players..I guess these 'gamblers' just feel real lucky to risk those millions?

The biggest Fantasy League players have tens of thousands riding daily, the larger ones like Fan Duel and Draft Kings have weekly paydays that lapse the Westgate/Hilton SuperContest's season winner payout..

Now, which of those two would you label gambling? The skill/luck of a single day's boxscore output for a list of players for fat payday, or a handicapper that can pick 3.50+% of 5 NFL sides correctly for a full 17 week season(85 plays)? Congress may wish to re-evaluate?

If not for Louisiana's long tradition of Thoroughbred racing and training with quite a few historical Tracks, I'd wager that it wouldn't allow TVG, Twinspires,etc..accounts. La will allow you to bet into horse fields 20 deep, but not flip a coin between two teams, nor play in a fantasy league with single digit entrants.

Fantasy vs Sports Betting. One is vilified, the other is worthy of being a backdrop sponsor for Pro league games and Head Coach interviews. One is easily taxed and monitored, the other more easily proliferated, unregulated in distribution, and allows too much to control..there's the problem.

Fantasy Sports better be happy they don't threaten Sheldon Adelson's pockets..or he'd get Harry Reid..Goodlatte..Kyl..Frist..etc..on the case!

Read these two articles, and their arguments by Rep. Jason Chaffetz (R-Utah) and Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.), where they argue "Fantasy sports leagues are games of skill. Managers must take into account a myriad of statistics, facts and game theory in order to be competitive,”

Well, it just shows me that they know nothing of The Computer Group and it's remnants today, nor QQ, The Asians, Zeljko, Frohardt Lane, Russians,etc.. They all rely on breaking down the games to the same Quant/Sabremetric/Fractionals advanced math to win today. They aren't just betting on hunches! They have to overcome vig to earn their pay. Fantasy is Individual Player handicapping vs Sportswagering's Team Unit handicapping..they're in the same ballpark in this argument. But, worlds apart on taxation and regulatory control!

Serious handicapping for Fantasy, Sportsbetting, Thoroughbred,etc..are all fairly similar for the extremely small percentage of those that will come out ahead, advanced skillsets and tons of homework. And those that continually lose in any of these endeavors will be the dart throwers.

Political Spin and Taxation and Lobby Money trying to sell a clear difference between these three is comical. The same skillset required to excel in any of three could be trained to excel at the others(albeit may require a lifetime of nuances for many to do so)..

I'm sorry for the diatribe, but watching Jay Gruden torch RG3 with a Fan Duel backdrop, plus the commercials that have replaced Poker websites at every break, set me off.

I think I find this interesting. But I need a waaay dumbed down version before I can participate in any real discussion.

Betting on point spreads is evil and despicable. Gambling thousands of dollars on fanduel is acceptable and embraced by the league.

Basicall Roger Goodell's NFL thinks gambling is okay as long as it's a form of gambling they can control and get a cut of.
