Were the late 90's/early 2000's the worst period for music ever?

the top 20 doesn't dominate anywhere near the way it used to and the record labels have so much less control. I don't think the music is necessarily "better" now on the whole but the good shite is so much more out there and easy to find compared to say 1999.

it was perfect for the "rage phase" of my life when i was 12-15 years old. now looking back I realize how bad it was. Limp Bizkit is first tier and should excluded.

I thought it was just me as I was in grad school during this time and it's kind of a blur...I don't really remember what was popular then, but I think you make some good points. The only redeeming thing for me out of that garbage is the Red Wings won a few cups during this run and Kid Rock was partying with them all the time and those tunes were part of the local soundtrack then.

ICP is the worst, but you can't deny the genius of this video.

Win-win -- n., a confrontation or conflict which can only produce a desirable result; e.g. A Burt Reynolds vs Draconian Sanctions death match is a win-win.

syn. -- No-lose situation

This era was MTV's last gasp of musical relevancy. I was in college at the time and thankfully had KLSU to introduce me to new bands but the mainstream scene was pretty weak.

I liked it at the time but now not so much. However, it was better than the music that's playing today.

Bruh late 90's early 2000's pop music and radio top 40 stuff was the shite

That was the last period of time that legitimate rock and roll groups could still have top singles on the radio

Now it's literally all 100% manufactured pop bullshite ala Katy Perry, Taylor Swift, etc

The early 2000's had that but still had alt-rockish bands having big hits

And the late 90's produced the single greatest song of all time, Steal my Sunshine by Len, so I mean come on. come on.

Tantric is one of the best bands of the past 2 decades. Your argument is invalid. LINK
