Bob Stoops? Sounds like he might be on the way out. He has done well at Oklahoma and seems to have some integrity.

programs going from good/great to bad with a poor hire

In many of those instances the program was already spiraling down from its good/great status, hence the removal of the prior coach. People see a program succeed, have 2-3 bad years and the coach gets canned and just assume the program is still a successful program as before those 2-3 bad years. They disregard this little tidbit when a new coach comes in and doesn't immediately bring back the glory days.

I like that idea, too.

An offense with an IQ, wow, the good old days.

Who is outrecruiting LSU consistently?

ETA: Other than the future HOF coach at Bama that has a recruiting budget that is a multiple of LSU's.

Only in our hearts. LSU is more like a top 10 job. Big difference.

How about Rich Rod? He knows Louisiana. I think his stint at Michigan was an exception on his resume. Wouldn't he jump ship from Arizona?

Let's look at a few:

2001 - Davis leaves for NFL, and Miami promotes Coker to HC, he wins an NC and loses in the NC the next year then slides. He was never ready to be a head coach much like Mike Archer. Early success followed by a decline. They then hired their DC Shannon resulting in the same issue. They were stupid to hire to assistants back to back and cared more about continuity than making a real hire.

Notre Dame - Hires Bob Davie (their DC to replace Holtz) with no HC experience. They are mediocre and then hire George O'Leary. Most remember that they then fired him 5 days later because he lied about having a master's degree. Seeing what he's done at UCF, they should've held onto him. Then they hire Willingham who had an up and down career at Stanford. This was just a bad hire as UW would later make the same mistake. After Willingham, they hire and overpay for Weis who has never been a head coach in his life even at the HS level, and after a couple of years. Again, a bad hire and even stupider contract extension. They've now seemed to have gotten it right with Brian Kelly.

Michigan - Carr is a successful coach and reminds me a lot of Miles. Won a title in his third year at Michigan, but then couldn't beat tOSU (Bama for Miles) consistently. Over time, lost his good will and was pushed out. They want to hire a Michigan man, and instead hire Rich Rodriguez, who while a good coach, needed time for his system to work at Michigan. He wasn't given the time, and the team struggled with a lack of players to fit it. Then they bring in a "Michigan Man" in Hoke who had 1 great season at Ball state around 5 mediocre to bad ones, and one good year at SDSU and one bad one. They hired a guy with little proven record. He's failed and regressed.

Looking at just those 3, you can see the pattern of bad decisions. Hiring in house assistants with no HC experience, guys with up and down track records/1 great season, or guys with a system that doesn't fit the teams current talent makeup.

In the end, there are clear issues there with why teams makes mistakes. UF hired two guys with no HCing experience, and both struggled. The last to HC they hired with college HCing experience won NCs for them.

If you look at circumstances and the schools' recent histories?

Let's see:
Auburn
Ole Miss
UGA
UF

All have either states with less talent and an in state rival and have shown consistency.

In the end, If not for the ridiculous in state talent last year, LSU likely has a class finishing outside of the top 5 for straight years and this year would make it 6.

Les is a very good recruiter, but not so great that its not replaceable or even improvable.

Then Les should push Alleva to improve his recruiting budget. I am sick of hearing how Les doesn't get as much as the next guy. he has the highest paid staff in the country, yet people feel bad for him?

True. The Head Coach is 75% of why an out of state recruit would come to BR. At least 50% for home-grown guys. It does make a difference.

I was trying to think of coaches out there that are already established, because I don't think LSU fans will let Aleva get away with hiring an up and comer. Harbaugh? David Shaw?

I get a laugh at these names like Shaw and Harbaugh because they are never coming to LSU. You almost never see a name or high profile coach leave a name or high profile school. The normal guy at a Georgia is not leaving Georgia. Same with the guy at Florida or Texas or Auburn or any other name football school.

We will have to go with a coach at a lower level or lower success and that's always a big gamble.

I hope Les retires here in five to ten years and frick all the clueless haters who don't realize how good they had it under Les.

replacing miles' integrity as a coach would be difficult.

"Integrity" ? Really ? Last years backfield was a sex offender qb and a child rapist rb. This year we have defensive players with domestic violence issues and assault on a policeman. WE are recruiting a qb that had to be led off the field by cops at his last college for threatening the coaches, and a DT that was kicked out of Georgia for beating his gf.

Integrity indeed ! Maybe Judge Bonnie Jackson and Les can have a team vote to see if five violated probations equal five failed drug tests!

Im sick of this dirty bullshite and our undisciplined team. It starts at the top and it needs to end!

No, wait lets all run blame the refs for our players acting like clueless idiots!

Integrity ! GTFO !

I'll just quote it in case he decides to remove it on his own...no need to even comment on this.

Sometimes the truth hurts.

The really sad part here is that we've become Georgia. "Oh no how could we replace Mark Richt ?" "He's such a man of integrity!" "We could never do better!"

Low self esteem !

I don't think you understand odds. If I flip a coin, it doesn't matter how many times in a row I get heads...the next flip always has a 50% chance to be heads.

Given two outcomes...there's always a 50% chance. No more...and no less.

Sometimes it does...unfortunately none of what you posted in regards to Mett or Hill was the truth. Mett grabbed a girl in a bar, and Hill fricked a willing girl at his school a couple of days after he turned 18 in his senior year who had regrets afterwards when her Dad found out. OUTRAGE!!!!

Which makes you, ironically enough, a bigger scumbag than what you consider either of them to be

Huh...go figure.
