It's funny. One of the first things I do when I sit on someone's couch is look up at their ceiling. If there is ever a frick up with dry wall. It's sure to be there

I have seen some trashy things on the OT, but bragging about your ability to install and float sheetrock might be one of the trashiest hahaha

I can't imagine how bad you'll frick up the taping, floating of the joints, mudding corners, and ceiling texture.

Drywall mudding and texture is a true art that takes time to learn.

That is why I am usually the monkey hanging the sheetrock. I let people with the "know how" do the taping, floating, etc.

It is the one thing I didn't mind spending money on when we redid our bathroom. The plumbing and electrical I had to spend money on because I don't want problems with water or electricity. But all of the teardown, framing, and other stuff I did myself. I didn't want all that hard work to look like shite because I got cheap with the walls.

DIY wallboard skills are much in demand after a hurricane. I know how to use a chainsaw, too. Does that also make me "trashy"?

It's a good skill to know and I did it while being a full time college student, so please continue to stereotype.

I think you'd be surprised at the income that some independent contractors, such as drywall guys make. A lot of the forty thousand dollar millionaire types on here are all about the nouveau riche snobbery towards people that work for a living. I know a guy that grossed $385k last year installing and repairing overhead doors, and he looks like the sterotypical Joe Sixpack, laughing his way to the bank.

The side with the printing on it goes next to the studs. Are you sure you're quite prepared to be installing dry wall?

Yep.. I can hang sheetrock with no issues. But I SUCK at mudding. When I do it you can see every seam. So I then cover it with wallpaper or texture.

Are you sure you read the part where I clearly said it was my father in law that did it?

Honestly, I would think that a trailer has too much flex in the frame and that would cause drywall would crack...most times I have seen some type of wallboard used in trailers with a little strip tacked over each seam....

Is that where the term "tacky" comes from?

It has sheetrock walls throughout the whole thing.
He had to replace 2 panels after a guest of a member put bird shot through the wall when he was cleaning his "unloaded" gun.
I wish he would've taken pictures.

This is all starting to sound like the guest's problem now! However, I'll assume that if he's a hunter and doesn't know how to clear his weapon, he probably can't do drywall.

If it says "Made in China" you may want to get different drywall. My brother is a realtor in SW FLA and told me horror stories about the Chinese drywall issue. It may have been corrected by now though.
