foil over the breasts when reach right temp (think 135-140 but need to look it up) will help create more even browning as well

you brought up good point on skin. i tend to baste my breasts to retain moisture, but it just makes the skin useless.

Not much, just fresh cranberry relish. I get to take it easy this year since we're going to the in-laws in Mississippi.

We talking bird? I'm a firm believer that if you don't brine your turkey, you should probably be shot.

ETA: Assuming you bought a real turkey and not that Butterball pre-injected with 8lbs of salt shite.

That's the one thing I'm not responsible for this year.
My brother stepped up. I have no idea how he's cooking it.

I'm super excited about it.

Bringing at least two bottles of bourbon and a metric frick ton of cigars so that I can banish myself to the back deck and get away.

Probably. For a while her Mom was trying to convince her that our getting together was a sign, and that her purpose in life was to convert me.

Yep and with a bird that big, if you don't have someone constantly basting, it's going to turn to leather. That's why I suggested the oven option because you can definitely help keep some of that moisture.
