I love how everyone gives Butch and Collis all the credit for JB's success
Because they were the reason for any of his success.
We all saw what happened when the Louisiana talent ran dry and Butch couldn't pull anyone from Collis for Brady. The program was a joke at the end of Brady's tenure.

A joke was Trent Johnson, he won with Brady's healthy players. JB won when he had healthy talent, TJ won with a healthy Tasmin and Chris Johnson. If you don't think every program has a Collis Temple and Butch Pierre you have no idea about college basketball. For JB to be fired 18 months after the final four with his best two players hurt was the joke. I guess you were one of the guys who wanted to give Trent Johnson six years to build a program, ask TCU how that is working out.

Brady lover at all but has Johnson or Jones been any better? This is about wanting
Well Jones has proven he can recruit and without that you have no chance. The victories will come, just give it time. Basketball, as in football, is all about recruiting. Coaching does play a role, but it's all relative.

No, I wasn't. I just got done saying we havent hired a good coach since he left.
Seriously, let it go. The Louisiana players ran out for Brady recruited by Butch who had the connection with Collis. Once that happened, and the LA players ran dry for a LONG while, the program was in the pit.
Brady had a LOSING record his last year and that alone was enough to get canned. BTW Johnson played almost the entire season, so that's absolutely no excuse to include him in the "injuries" list. How in the hell do you have a losing record with Marcus Thornton, Chris Johnson, Anthony Randolph, Terry Martin, Garrett Temple and Bo Spencer on your squad? He lost to every OOC team with a pulse that year then went 0-5 to start SEC play. Brady got what he deserved.
The Brady apologists need to stop, the guy could only land a job at a shite Sun Belt school after LSU and he's been stuck there for 7 seasons now and has done absolutely nothing.

Brady's treatment of Pistol Pete's son got him fired of at least the straw that broke the camels back

Not every hire after another is better, shite happens. Brady HAD to go, he had driven the program into the ground with no sight of recovery.

Exactly.....Brady could coach, he really could. But he was so bad with people and relationships it undermined what he brought as a bench coach...significantly.

While I agree Brady did some good things while at LSU, also he was fortunate enough to have an unusual amount of top talent in his back yard all at one time. As you said about Brady doing more with the talent CJJ had last season or this season, well I can name quite a few coaches that would have probably won it all with Tasmin, Big Baby, Tyrus, and that gang on the floor also.
Also Trent Johnson was bought in here for one thing and one thing only, and that was to fix the ACADEMIC cluster that Brady left behind because the NCAA was threatening to take scholarships for poor performance. So Trent couldn't just go out and get guys that would normally come, he had to make sure he got people with high academic standings or wanting to GO TO CLASS.
Now as far as CJJ, well he has this year and next with Ben Simmons to get at least a sniff and a few wins in the Big Dance. If he can't do it with Simmons on campus then the problem is more than just recruiting.

Isnt Brady about to get fired at ASU? I thought i read that somewhere recently

Brady was not good.
He was gifted a ready made team where the players had years of familiarity with themselves.

Yeah he really showed a lot taking that same team essentially to 8-13 before getting canned

Brady's "Defense" was holding onto the ball on offense and relying on athletic shot blockers.
To seriously sit here and try and say Brady was some mastermind X and O's coach is HILARIOUS.

LSU was never truly in the mix for Greg Monroe the kid was going out of state from the beginning.

I not going to post an opinion on Brady and the coaches since, or our current coach.
But as it relates to basketball, can someone please tell me what X's and O's mean for this sport?
I will wait.......
Just as a reference point, I know for a fact LSU by the end of last year had over 15 sets, which means atleast over 75 plays. So I love hearing people say CJJ, John Brady, or Trent Johnson, or any coach, past high school, knows nothing. Every college coach, regardless of level has over 50 plays, if a college coach has less than 20 "plays" or 4 sets, they will probably lose every game after about the 10 game mark, unless their talent is so much superior that the coaches could do no coaching and win. People that have never played basketball past middle school, or are football thinkers, should not discuss basketball, in terms of in game adjustments, and/or at any level past high school.
Explaining to someone that there are literally 7-10 different ways to defend a ball-screen, they would not understand at all, or that on off ball screens the receiver/screener have 7-10 options they can do based off of how of how the defender guards it.
Its easy to see guys that perform well at other schools based off of statistics and recruiting rankings, that they might have been good fits. When in reality that is the farthest thing from the truth, just like football.
So what could have been.....well there are endless possibilities listed.
If any one poster thinks that Trent Johnson as a coach does not deserve a job in college basketball, or that he is a horrible coach, is an idiot. LSU didn't work out, but man people have no idea the job he did at Stanford. Its easy to say any team would be good with two 7'0 starting NBA centers. But recruiting and developing 4 +38% three point shooters, and a point guard that was very good, he gets no credit, but that is okay. Because John Brady, Trent Johnson, and Johnny Jones will all be able to coach Division 1 college basketball until they are too old, because yes all 3 are that good.
With any sports program, you always want more, and strive to do better. I hear on here too many times, if LSU just made the tourney once every two years, that would be good enough for me. When in reality after 6 years of 3 early exits the coach probably gets fired, because you come to expect more.

You said that he had driven the program into the ground with no sight of recovery. It's the kind of thing complete dumb asses say. Take it like a man, learn, and move on. What you said is factually incorrect. Try to be smarter.

Maybe is a longing to be significant after the regular season.
