Coming off the 2006 final four appearance LSU basketball was looking like a program that could be a player going forward. They had made the tournament in 2003 & 2005 as well. Losing senior guard D. Mitch and Top 5 pick Tyrus Thomas. They still returned Tasmin Mitchell, Big Baby, G. Temple, Tack Minor, Chris Johnson, and Magnum Rolle. If people who follow basketball remember LSU was in the mix for Scottie Reynolds who ended up being a great 4 year guard for Villanova and Darrell Arthur a big that stayed 2 years at Kansas. If LSU would've landed those 2 players. With what was already on the roster and then add in landing the #1 player in the country in Greg Monroe a few years later LSU would still be a tournament team and we'd probably still have Brady. But hate on Brady all you want he did way more with this program than has been done since.

I know this is very random but I want nothing more than for this program to be a consistent tourney team on a yearly basis and it just ain't happening not even close. If we don't get things together it will make 5 straight years without a berth.

LSU has to finish top 2 in the SEC or win the SECT to get in the dance. Idk if you realize that.

Are you saying in general the conference will only get 2 teams or because of our start we have to do that?

Not a Brady lover at all but has Johnson or Jones been any better?

This is about wanting to see a winning basketball program and with where the program was at after the 2006 final 4 run if we land Reynolds, Arthur, and then Monroe we would've still been a tourney team. Not gonna mention Randolph and Thornton because no clue if we land them with those other players mentioned. But we would've been a top 20 program and players would've came.

This is all hypothetical. It's year 3 of Jones and myself who admittedly was a huge supporter out the gates of hiring Jones is running on fumes. Dude has done nothing coaching wise to show me anything. He's brought in a couple pros but his offensive and defensive strategy is awful. He'll be here this year and next thru Simmons an if he doesn't make the tourney he's gone. Period.

Because of the start. Beating WVU on the road would be a nice win but ive seen both teams play and i dont see that happening sadly.

Lsu missed out on a lot of in state talent. dj Augustin, twenty Carter, lacedarius Dunn, markel brown, Greg Monroe all were impact players and had deep runs in the ncaa tourney

Yup you're correct. Didn't even mention those guys. Just a head scratcher how we can't get anything going with this program. Rescources are there

Ya. Arkansas is good. Hopefully LSU can turn it around and be the 4th.

the 05/06 team was just special. i couldnt see this team going to a west virginia and winning. darrel mitchell was always the x factor, no matter how dominant baby or tyrus were.

I honestly think everyday people are beginning to realize we maybe weren't that bad off with Brady at the helm.

How so? If lsu finished 3rd in the sec and arky or florida were 4th, i think arky or florida would get in over LSU. Thats why i said top 2

Firing JB set this program back 5 years, we fire a coach 18 months after going to the final four with Tasmin Mitchell and Chris Johnson hurt. If TM and Chris Johnson don't get hurt Brady would probably still be here. One thing you can't deny when JB had healthy talent he won, TJ won with his healthy talent, TJ was the worst hire in LSU bb history. I am a big fan of CJJ but am getting concerned about his game coaching ability. JB would have taken that team last year to the tourney with that talent and no telling where we would go this year. We have the same type of talent JB and Butch would have recruited here now, it is time to show something. I was a huge fan of JB with Butch and Treloar on the bench. That final four team was a blast to watch. Here's another one for you if Jamie LLoreda wouldn't have wacked out no telling where that team could have gone.
Think about the pros JB had here, have never seen that kind of consistent talent here.
For the record this program still hasn't recovered from the firing of JB. Just my opinion.
