The American people are too stupid to know MIT plays football.

I also find it interesting that a school that has smarter folks than the Ivy League can play more than a 10 game season and participate in the playoffs...

I also wonder if they have additional measurements for their football field in Smoots?

I've actually been to a football game at MIT, it's definitely interesting. Their band is LOL small but it was pretty fun.

and the MIT mascot is?

A beaver...I had to google it....

quote:

"The beaver was chosen as the mascot of Technology because of its remarkable engineering and mechanical skill and its habits of industry. The proposal that the beaver be adapted as the mascot of the Institute was made at the annual dinner of the Technology Club of New York on January 17, 1914. The late President Richard Maclaurin formally accepted the proposal, and at this dinner a group of beavers shown in natural surroundings was presented to the Institute."

I am not sure they have actual football players...I think they invented cyber clones of themselves and upgraded the clones into the football players they wanted to be.

I just think they are able to convince the refs that their TD's are actually more than 6 points.

I know someone who played at MIT for a bit before concussions forced him to quit.

They quasi-recruit for the sport, but no one is under any illusion that the players are anything but legitimate student-athletes, with the student aspect far outweighing the athlete part. It really was an easy decision for the guy I mentioned to drop football after the second concussion. Brain is worth far more money to him than football could have ever been. He is going to be an actual rocket scientist.

debatable claim here. They have better engineers than the Ivy League, but you'd have to define smart to legitimize this claim.

Student A:
1550 SAT (old scale), 790 Verbal, 760 Math
3.8 GPA in Political Economy at Princeton

Student B:
1550 SAT, 750 Verbal, 800 Math
3.8 GPA in Aerospace Engineering at MIT

Can you really say one is smarter?

Student B is smarter. Doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure that out

Average SAT for the team is probably 1460-1500 and average ACT is 33-34. I'm assuming that the scores for the football team are identical to the rest of the school since they don't really recruit.

MIT's main rival is Cal Tech (not necessarily in sports, but just in general) and students often will travel across the country to play pranks on the other school.

The buildings at MIT do not have names, just numbers and they are numbered in the order they were built.
