Without these rules, I feel like all you would see is athletes plugging random products for a quick buck. It would essentially become like nascar and players start wearing company logos all over pre and post game attire.

And? How does that hurt anybody?

No he is not smarter than I am. Also, I wasn't knocking being a garbage man, I wouldn't knock a random person who works hard no matter what they do. I was pointing out how lucky he is for the NFL and the opportunity it has given him.

Is there something wrong with being a garbage man?

Also, aren't you guys always complaining of black men not taking care of their kids and living off the government? Isn't Sherman's dad being present and having a steady long-term job (which he still works iir) be the poster boy for all that is right for minorities seeking their piece of the American Dream?

This. While it doesn't take away from the humor of the skit, you can't blame the NFL if they discipline them in some form or fashion.

They way i look at these guys is most of them don't even have high school degrees, yet they make $60K+ year, get a truck with a gas card and don't work weekends/holidays while getting at least 3 weeks of vacation. Shut the frick up and be thankful for what you have, or go somewhere else if it's so bad. There's a bunch of other people that would love that job and it's perks.

Are you hiring? I think you'd be a wonderful supervisor

Actually, I think he is claiming that the NFL doesn't allow players to endorse booze which would hypocritical since Anheuser-Busch is one of their biggest sponsors.

Exactly. He is a better earner BECAUSE of the opportunities the NFL gave him so he should STFU and count his tens of millions.

Biting the hand that feeds them?I'd love to see how much money the NFL would be making if every star player moved to a different league. You know because all the die hard fans these days don't pay money to watch the players, they pay money because of their devotion and loyalty to the NFL.

Uh, NFL fans are fans of franchises first and foremost. But, that's not the point.

The point is that the NFL and the players have agreed on these policies and each signed off on the CBA.

They agreed that the NFL controls endorsement deals during league activities (games, press conferences, etc.). It is simply dumb to complain about that structure when the players agreed to the deal. It's even dumber to support the players in that effort.

I was offered that supervisor position and turned it down b/c i'd have to not be myself in order to be good at it and i'm too unsympathetic and hate retarded high school/woman like drama that these grown men bring to work everyday.

I would not openly say what i said previously to those guys. It's irritating they can't be thankful for what they have, considering where they came from. They are too busy bitching about how much more money the people above them make and how stupid they are. I guess those guys at our corporate office are stupid considering we've exceeding our quarterly projections the last 18 quarters in a row.

The PGA is full of stupid rules and their commissioner makes millions, but you never hear anyone on tour act is if their commissioner is a sack of shite b/c he makes so much money and makes all these rules they don't like. They don't even announce fines or suspensions.

PGA Commissioner Tim Finchem's thoughts on fines:
quote:

"We see no reason to advise the public of when one of our players does something silly. Why should we do that?" Finchem said. "If it's a situation, though, where the facts of the matter are described erroneously, either in the media or by an involved player, we may comment on it. And occasionally, where it's an obviously highly covered situation, we might comment on it. But as a general rule, we just don't think it's in the interests of the sport to do that, and so we don't."

Tour Veteran Joe Ogilvie's thougths on that (Duke grad, so i guess he's really smart by some of your thinking):
quote:

"I don't see the down side" of announcing fines and suspensions, Ogilvie said Sunday at the Wells Fargo Championship. "I know you are trying to protect everybody. But as long as it is communicated in a way that is proper, I think it's not only transparent for everybody involved but probably better for everybody involved long term. I don't think there's a downside in announcing who is suspended or who has screwed up.
"I think you use your head on what should be announced. There are certain things that need to be kept within the Tour and there are certain things that can be made public. You guys are going to find out anyway. So, you can either control it, or you let (the media) control it. And I'd rather control it."
Ogilvie also said announcements could be a deterrent. But Ogilvie said he doesn't see the Tour changing its policy of keeping quiet.
"It's not going to happen with this commissioner. A new commissioner might see otherwise," Ogilvie said. "I'm not saying Tim is wrong, I'm just saying I'd look at it a little differently from a player's perspective. Maybe if I was in his position I'd think of it the way he thinks of it.

Can you see the difference in how Ogilvie approached the media about how he didn't' like something his commissioner was doing, compared to how Sherman did?
Which one looks like a smart respectful man?

NFL and NBA players are no different than the guys working with me that are uneducated. They just make a lot more money. They think their boss makes too much money and that he's an idiot and they are the only reason the company makes money.

Funny how the PGA guy didn't' act that way.

So because they make more money than most, they should bow down to every rule, no matter how unfair it may be?

Would you do the same at your job?
