Because there is a huge element of luck to winning the NCAA title in basketball. You have to win 6 straight games. One off night and you're done.
I'm not a tard- I understand the variance of tournament basketball.
I'm just shocked they haven't lucked up and won more than 1 in 25 years. It's not an indictment of the conference... obviously the B1G is good at basketball.

Wasn't meant as a dig at your intelligence.

The SEC fans are incredible at supporting football and baseball. The SEC dominates both sports consistently. That being said, the fans don't support basketball very well outside of Florida and Kentucky. I think there is a certain interest deficit in basketball in the SEC as well as desposable income people are willing to shell out for all 3 sports.
LSU for example, will have some solid crowds when they are good but like most SEC schools we are marginal on a year to year basis. I think this is basically the same situation most schools in the SEC fall under. The premier basketball talent in the country plays in conferences that are usually good in one sport : football or baseball. These schools have excellent fan support and atmospheres in basketball in turn.
Producing high caliber programs in Baseball, Basketball and Football across the board in a conference is almost impossible. There are individual schools that can do it like Florida and Texas but they are the exception.
