Weren't they supposed to boycott in front of businesses that aren't black owned? Does anyone know if this is happening?

got into it with some stupid bitch who suffers from a severe case of white guilt last night who basically said that Officer Wilson could have resorted to non-lethal force (taser, baton, etc) as opposed to shooting him. Even after I pointed out that Brown was trying to grab his gun, she still said he didn't have to shoot him.

Look - I think a bunch of us were appalled at the initial narrative - white cop kills (execution style) black teenager for no damned good reason.

That turns out to be quite misleading. The white cop did, in fact, kill an unarmed black teenager. However, the "gentle giant" tried to get the cop's gun - there is little question about this based on the forensic evidence. Eyewitnesses confirm the struggle at the window which reasonable people must admit had to have been initiated by Mr. Brown.

Now, what happened outside the vehicle is more dicey - Wilson has had to answer for shooting an unarmed subject 6 times - but I believe he has done that sufficiently with objective evidence in support.

Maybe I'm continuing to miss something - would black folks still be upset if Wilson had been a black officer, but everything else went down the same way?

Not sure if rhetorical, but I'll answer anyway ... No.

Honestly, I don't think that we would even know of this story if it were a black cop. Even if it was a black cop that shot a white Gentle Giant. Or if a white cop shot a white Gentle Giant.

I'm not trying to be racist. It's the truth.

Which is why I'm less and less concerned about what happened, versus the reaction to it, which is still potentially severe.

It was and continues to be politically motivated racial opportunism. I appreciate that many black folks feel under siege by law enforcement and that may be true in certain cases and in certain places - I just don't see it here.

This was the wrong wagon for the Rev Als of the world to hitch themselves. The folks they need to help them change see this for what it is.

They tried to make a violent criminal a martyr for their cause. History should show what a great error it was to attempt to do so.

They should seek changes in their own communities and address any issues with law enforcement concurrently. The two are closely related and have great effects on the other.

My guess is that they can't make money doing that though so it's not going to happen.

If I remember correctly, wasn't Brown's dad holding a sign that said "a white police officer just shot my unarmed son", or something like that?

That is what drew all of the attention, if I recall correctly.

I'm on my phone, so I will look later. I seem to remember that but I may be wrong.

Though very few details have been confirmed at this point, Twitter is exploding with reports of a 17-year-old boy being shot dead by police -- with this picture making the rounds of an unidentified male holding a sign that reads: "Ferguson police just executed my unarmed son!!!"

It's in the OP of this thread in the link to the first Ferguson thread.

Supposedly they have Scott Trade center on lockdown.

Protestors blocking exits?? Rumors are Darren Wilson is there. Metro link was their ride to Scott.

Very interesting back and forth banter going on the mike brown steam, such as "I dont come to hoes they come to me" with the response "Thats why I said come here" with frick the police playing in the back ground.

Not going to happen. Wilson knows he will have to look over his shoulder possibly for the rest of his life. We will likely always be carrying and furthermore will keep his situational awareness up.

Nah....something else will happen in another location and Mike Brown and Darren Wilson will be forgotten.

Wilson will walk the streets and live a normal life just like George Zimmerman....just not as a cop and hopefully without the dumb frick up shite like Zimmerman.
