I have had four family members become policemen and all work in the worse areas of Portland. My fear is that the profession isn't going to attract quality people soon. My brother, after three generations, left the profession because of the risk of lawsuit and criminal charges against him. He has post grad level education and I have never witnessed him even mutter a prejudiced word. He had to move from his neighborhood because he was being tracked and I saw my Dad come home bandaged up like a mummy because he responded first to a gold glove boxer on PCP. I wish people would read about this case before throwing them under the bus.
I really hope people consider that if cops are thrown under the bus for a political agenda that only people with a half a brain are going to become cops. I want good people protecting and serving. My brother has predicted for years that American urban centers will become the wild west because cops will have their hands tied. People need to really consider what they are asking for.

I think I gotta get out of portland. I saw someone on my Facebook feed post that you will know justice when you feel it. She was so moved by the protest below her apartment that she knows Michael Brown was innocently slaughtered.
I know I live in hippie land but that is literally the dumbest thing I've ever read. I would chalk it up as her but it's everywhere here. I saw one person mention something to the contrary and she was ambushed.
The poor guy was just trying to smoke majiuana, which should be free anyway and he was just walking down the midle of the street. He was fully clothed too. He was totally being harassed.
