Miles isn't very highly regarded nationally by people who analyze more than records. One example - 14 for '14: Best head coaches in college football

At the same time, LSU is widely considered to be one of the top 10 coaching jobs in college football.

Some people try to act like the levelheaded position is to be content with Miles, but it's actually more objectively rational to say that there are better options. Now, whether you trust LSU to find one of those better options is another story.

Even after all the praise of the Cameron hire, I wouldn't be hurt if he got in the car too. This year has not been good for Cam's reputation as an offensive guru. aTm should give a little more insight to this rumor

You do know who oversees the game plans do you not ?. His signature is all over our miserable offense. As somebody stated before, we should just eliminate the tight end coach and the OC. Over a period we will learn to adjust to these occasional seasons such as this one, and heap praise and extend buyouts on 8 or 9 win seasons . He's not going anywhere . Don't you think there is espn in Michigan ? Just sit back and enjoy the ride.

I don't expect LSU to win every game every year. I understand about academic problems, legal problems, early departures, decommittments and injuries.

However, in the military we had a term (early 1970's) called "MUAR" meaning Maximum Utilitization of Available Resources.

What upsets me so much is that LSU runs the I-Formation consistently and makes very little effort to use all the other very talented resources they have recruited.

If they tried and failed, I could still be proud of the team. To have not tried at all is overwhelmingly depressing!

Miles will be our head coach at least another 2 years, if not longer.

I agree, provided we show some improvement over the last few games of this season and going into next. If Miles and staff can't fix the QB problem and the offense still looks like an abortion next season, his seat will start to get very warm, especially if Satan and the Gumps win another NC. Miles will get until the end of the 2016 season to have LSU in serious contention for the SEC West title (assuming we don't next season). If he doesn't, then I think the TAF big wigs will pressure the BOS to pull the plug on him. LSU can't afford to become an also-ran in the SEC West.

Not to mention, we would probably lose Frank Wilson if Miles left. Recruiting would take a hit for sure, barring a big time homerun hire.

Who says you cannot make leaving Frank alone part of the Michigan buyout? Alleva could arrange Frank stay as assistant head coach/recruiting coordinator with a raise (thanks in part to the Miles buyout). Wilson is a Louisiana guy. I bet Jim Mora or Gary Patterson would love to keep him.

oh and.....15 million.

But by all means rip Les and the coaches on messageboards and the airwaves constantly. It's levelheaded afterall.

LSU leads Bama in consecutive sellouts at TS by a LOT. Until the ticket sales go down, Les Miles stays. That was the only thing that almost cost Richt his job at UGA. Luckily, he started winning. For a bit.

The same Gary Patterson that is a complete douche bag, had a losing season in the pitiful Big 12 last year and lets team score 58 points on him like this season?

Who would even be realistic candidates for LSU if Miles somehow left? It's not like we can get any coach in America at the drop of a hat

Michigan tried a non conservative hire in rich rod and that failed miserable.. Then they tried hoke. Miles would actually be perfect for them on name alone.

I just wish miles wouldn't be so hard headed with the offense

Miles was 28-21 and 3-10 against ranked teams before coming here.

You're honestly saying we couldnt find someone better than that, or at least equal?

Word is, he's not well-liked in Ann Arbor by a lot of the folks that have a say in this stuff.

Les will retire in BR. Like it or not.

The AD who supposedly was the main opposition last time is gone, isn't he?

Most coaches don't last more than 10 years in one job, so Miles has had a good run at LSU. I just think that it may be time for some new blood. I've never been a fan of his, but it would suck for him to stay in BR to the point where things start to get very uncomfortable for him and his family. He'd do better to bow out gracefully and not stay too long at the party, so to speak.
