It's from yesterday. And I still want to know what that dish is.

It's

soupy Spanish rice gone wrong
quote:

Of the Spanish rice, he said “you couldn’t feel the individual grains of rice. It was just a solid mush.”
eta: read something about it the other day. Hunter Whitney of Wisconsin tweeted it.

I attended high during the Reagan years. It was either filet or lobster back then. Once I ordered mine medium rare, but it was actually well done. I could barely focus the rest of the day.

I could try on purpose and not make rice look like that. It looks more like canned pork and beans cooked to death.

Oh come on. We know your mom made that stuff and put it in your lunch box.

True story. Newman-Smith HS in Dallas has two dining halls. A large one for 9-11 and a smaller one for seniors. The seniors have white table cloths and better food. I guess it's a motivation to make it to your senior year.

I'm assuming it's still there. This was 20 years ago when I visited.

Students at Plano HS had the option of eating out at the Duck Pond... about a 5 acre pond on campus with ducks and swans. You could buy duck food and sit on the grassy slope feeding the ducks and yourself.

Rich people are really cool. Poor people suck.

don't you ever accuse my mom of over cooking a steak. There is no need to get personal!

I apologize. My mom's idea of a steak was this crap:

It's what you get when an out of shape over weight individual gets to pick what's "good" for your children.

I'm still waiting for Michelle to establish these diet restrictions for all of the fat EBT cardholders.

This is actually awesome.

They are creating a whole generation of people who detest fed gov fascism. Maybe our future is brighter than we think.

I'm beginning to see signs of this - faint glimmers, but they're there - with this and Obamacare, in fact.

Everything comes in cycles as the pendulum swings - hopefully we survive the extreme edges and live in the middle, brah.

Oh no! Apple sauce. YUCK! And a teenage girl who doesn't eat enough. How rare.

Nice sexism their Mr. Misogynist.

That is the full meal. They can't go over a certain number of calories so they go under in order to avoid the overage.

Why do we need the gov't to tell people what to eat?

If that's yogurt that's some pretty fricked up looking yogurt.

That stuff is gross. When I ate at public school in New Iberia a typical lunch was white beans with rice and sausage, bun, milk. Cost was 25 cents. It was great. Beat the hell out of liver cheese sammiches.
