I seriously doubt they put Panda at 1B. His production is above average for a 3rd baseman, but probably below average for a 1st baseman.

They may, 1B is easier to play than 3B and if he is a decent 3B he should be able to adjust to 1B. Now offensive production he would be worse but they will have to do something with him as he ages
