At least they didn't overpay, but I'm in the HanRam is done and fading quick, group. I feel bad for whoever signs him and Pablo Sandoval.

he's only 24 though. he will definitely improve at the plate.

But how much can he realistically improve is the question. Not that it really matters as who ever has the job next year will just be a lame duck for Corey. That's of course if he ends up there

i'm confident he can be a decent enough hitter to play SS for us. his glove is what's the key for me. Hanley made entirely too many errors, costing us extra pitches, runs and games.

you can play shitty defensively if you are hitting homers and driving in runs, like Manny used to do. Hanley hitting for a decent average was great, but he wasn't driving in enough runs IMO.

Unless they're just giving up on Bogaerts which seems unlikely this probably means he's okay with playing 3B and Sandoval isn't going to Boston

Wow the Sox signed a 36 year old to a 5 year deal.

Thats an oddly specific age to be absolutely wrong about.

Fantastic deal. He and Papi are insanely close so hopefully that will help him not be a nutter.

no. Hanley came over in a trade earlier with the marlins. Hanley for Nathan eovaldi and a prospect IIRC

Ah okay.

The trade was reported and confirmed by baseball officials earlier in the week, but it wasn't finalized until the players passed their physicals. The announcement Thursday included two new names: Mota is headed to Boston and minor league right-hander Harvey Garcia to the Marlins.

Florida also gets top shortstop prospect Hanley Ramirez along with pitchers Anibal Sanchez and Jesus Delgado.

Is this wrong? I'm asking because it wouldn't be the first time espn is wrong.

We are screwed at SS right now until Seager, but good riddance to Hanley. His defense is abysmal and will only get worse.

I still would have given him this contract. if corey playes short, you move hanley to third and he just takes over for juan, or corey goes to third to take over for juan and hanley stays at short. he may be terrible in the field, clayton should have had a perfect game, but he still was a major part of our lineup when healthy

I think by year 3 we will be happy we don't have this contract to deal with. But yes for the near future it sucks losing him. One thing's for certain is that the new Dodger management is hell bent on cleaning up our financial situation.

Seems to be weird duel moves based off the concern over payroll flexibility that necessitated the sox/dodgers trade 2 years ago. Good on them though panda and hanley and put it together quick.

Dodgers will try to unload Matt Kemp for Alexei Ramirez. Hope the sox don't do it.

I thought they already had a logjam in the OF? I would imagine they will try to move Cespedes
