You can believe that the girl in the story was assaulted (I do) while also concluding that the story as it appeared in RS was sensationalized.
At the very least, not even attempting to share the perspective of her friends or contact the accused is poor journalism.

You'd think before posting this type of story rolling stone would completely vet out the whole thing. It does not take a FBI agent to find names and contact information. The editor of rolling stone said all they needed to know was that "they(the accused) existed" and that calling nationals was enough. That is just lazy or they more likely just didn't want to hear it.
I think it is very justified to be critical of this type of journalism without victim shaming.

The point of the story was about the process. Whether she was attacked by one or 7 is immaterial. Whether it actually happened is immaterial, unless you believe she is he only rape victim.
