Absolutely. I've been saying that for years.

That should be easy for Cassidy. Has he said he was going to do anything?

As far as that goes can anyone post a definitive commitment from Bohner or McConnell as to what actions they plan to take??

The only thing I have heard either of those guys say is they are going to get rid of the medical device tax---WOW that really means a lot to me! How bout you?

We can pretty much call Germans on what Cruz said. Of course you're supposed to do what you promised. That's the whole point of voting for someone.

You don't vote for someone because you want them to do the opposite of what they promised.

Yep. He's gonna be the anti-Obama.

Not a bad strategy imo. Before you start building a house you have to bulldoze all the shite in the way over to one side.

I've said this numerous times on this board but Ted Cruz is the one man in the senate who is doing exactly what he promised his constituents he would do.

For that the press and assorted nitwits burn him whenever the opportunity presents itself. We need more like Cruz in Washington.

He said Republicans ran against Obama's amnesty plan in the elections, and they certainly should fight him with every method at their disposal.

Cruz is just crazy and idealistic enough to frick this up for the republicans.

They just took both houses of Congress, Obama is running democratic support straight into the ground, a lot of people are finally realizing that economic issues are far more important than social ones and the number of republican governors is at a 100 year high.

There is an old saying about not stopping your opponent while he is busy destroying himself. Why is Cruz so desperate to give momentum back to the democrats? Their only hope in 2016 is for people like Cruz to give them people to point to and say "see, THAT is who you'll be voting into office by voting republican".

Just allow Obama to continue to crash and burn, veto any substantial legislation over the next two years and THEN when you have the presidency do what you plan to do.

So, the GOP should nominate a moderate? Like Romney? Like Dole? Like McCain?

I believe the media is corrupt enough to use Cruz' conservative idealism as a means to turn the momentum back to the dems. However they aren't limited to exploiting Ted Cruz in pursuing their holy effort.

Its difficult for me not to admire a man who is doing exactly what he promiswed the people who voted for him he would do.

The GOP should nominate a genuine fiscal conservative with a voting history to back that up. Additionally, it should be someone who won't fire up the social liberals with open support of DOMA, marijuana fear-mongering, etc.

The Republicans have a chance to CRUSH the democrats in 2016. The election results could be a foregone conclusion long before November 2016 if they just play it smart. They have a chance to win every demographic besides hardcore liberal idealists and Hispanics/AAs...if people like Ted Cruz don't give the democrats an easy out.

quote:

Like Romney? Like Dole? Like McCain?

McCain is an old southern democrat at heart, Romney's fiscal legislative history is more liberal than many democrats and Dole was a sacrificial lamb in an election the republicans knew they couldn't win and didn't want to waste a good candidate.

Absolutely, Ted Cruz and others like him are easy targets because they are outspoken on social issues and have a voting history that reveals what liberals would call a "war on women" and a "war on freedom".

I don't necessarily dislike Cruz, I just think he is such a "true believer" that he won't be able to play the game for two more years.

I don't see him garnering the GOP nomination because of the issues you raised. My admiration for Cruz isn't solely determinted by his voting record other than to say its honest to his convictions and to the promises he made to the people of Texas who voted for him.

I don't always agree with him but I like the man regardless. In many ways he is the new politician obama promised us all he would be.

Because Cruz is against pot altogether or because it's the law at this time and it should be enforced?

I've never seen anything from Cruz that would lead me to believe he is for legalization.
