Or Zuckerburg. That's a decent choice.

I am with Buzz Aldrin. Where is my fricking flying car? Back in the day the futurists said we would have all sorts of neat shite by now and the biggest deal is Facebook.

Buzz is actually kind of a dick, but he did invent the selfie.

And do you really want Cletus and Brandene terrorizing the skies in their trashy, flying car nuts ride? Every fender bender would become a multiple fatality. Gravity is a harsh mistress.

Ambitious, ruthless, narcissistic, entitled, tech-saavy. Makes comments that have no bearing in reality. Fits pretty well.

I carry around a device in my pocket that allows me to at will communicate with 3 billion people; purchase damn near anything, anywhere, anytime and have it delivered damn near anywhere anytime; has access to literally endless amounts of scientific and historical information; can listen to millions of hours of recorded music; can take photographs; record video and audio; tell me exactly where I am and can provide directions to where I want to go; can find me women to have sex with while arranging transportation to bring them to my door; watch nearly infinite options of videos ranging from news and weather reports to documentaries, to dumb viral videos, to music videos, to movies and tv shows; and allows me to read nearly every book ever written and it only costs $200. That's incredible.

Look at Tesla cars. Sure, they don't fly, but that's pretty futuristic stuff?
Look what the Japanese are doing with realistic androids and artificial intelligence.
Look at what Georgia Tech has done in building "Iron Man" suits.
Look at the U.S. Navy deploying laser weapons on naval ships in the Persian Gulf.
Look at the Volkswagon-sized robot we have cruising around on Mars.
Look at our latest professional sports stadiums.
Look at the incredible skyscrapers going up cities all over the globe (especially in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and the Far East).

Sure, we don't have flying cars and we're not in spaceships exploring the galaxy, watching Americans plant our flag on far away planets, but look what we do have. Have you driven a brand new car recently? Look at all the crazy voice command and lane assistance and bluetooth things they can do?

We live in a remarkable time marked by unbelievable technological leaps in short periods of time. I'm sorry we don't have flying cars, but take a look around, else-wise, the future is here.

We actually do have flying cars, and we are exploring there galaxy, albeit at a relatively slow pace. Nice diatribe, though.

I meant that just because we don't have ubiquitous flying cars and hoverboards that are common in everyday life and Rosie doing our laundry and dishes doesn't mean we aren't pretty darn futuristic as a society.

I know, right? And the fact that his empire is built on a stolen idea fits pretty well too. He's the autotune of tycoons. The Autotycoon.

Most millennials that aren't black see Obama as awful, but see the republicans as no better or worse because of how hypocritical the party is regarding social issues (gay marriage, abortion, ect), foreign policy (droning), the War on Drugs, ect. If the establishment would get out of the way and the Tea Party would embrace ending the War on Drugs, and then actually DO THOSE THINGS, the youth would flock to the GOP.

The problem with most millennials is that they place a greater importance on getting high, etc than voting for what is best for them decades done the line.

It's a common problem with many younger people in every generation - cannot see past tomorrow.

If you are for government forcing states to recognize gay marriage, forcing states to allow abortion, etc you are not a libertarian. A true libertarian would recognize all those things as state's powers.

As for the war on Drugs, I personally do not want it to be legal to get cocaine and heroin at your local pharmacy. MJ should be legalized but that is about it.

Few millennial were eligible to vote in 2008. I can understand the ones that were voting for Obama then because much of his platform was libertarian leaning during his campaign.

I do not understand where you get this from. Obama did not run for anything in 2008 except buzz words. Anyone with a modicum of common sense could have researched and saw we was an extreme leftist. Thankfully he never took full advantage of his filibuster proof Senate and big margin in the House he first 2 years.

quote:

Rand Paul has been doing a great job at convincing young people that Republicans aren't just a party of the rich. If the GOP wants to be the party that embraces young voters, they have to communicate the idea that they are in fact the party of personal freedom. They have been doing that much more effectively since 2010, but they haven't been so great at walking the walk. If you want to espouse being the party of individual liberty, you actually have to BE the party of freedom.

I think it's comical you think the Republican Party will ever let someone like Rand Paul get the nomination without a showdown of epic proportions. I am a generation Xer and you can count me in the number that really see no difference between Democrats and Republicans these days. All either party cares about is staying in power. I no longer donate anything to the GOP because they are just big government, excessive spending democrats with a R behind the name.

This country is going to hell and the only thing that will save it is another revolution - where a 3rd party candidate like Rand Paul becomes president. the problem is most American voters are either morons and/or can be bribed with a couple hundred dollars in freebies every month.

I am, I make memes. Let me preface this by saying that I’ve been a memer since they first appeared on 4chan circa 2006 (ages ago in internet time). I remember refreshing /b/ all afternoon with the hope that someone would make a new meme. I was a memer back when Advice Dog was the only one and I still upvote every Advice Dog meme I see becasue of the fond rush of nostalgia it brings me. Nowadays, there are many thousand on quickmeme and other meme websites. I was a memer back before memegenerator was created (the first meme website) and I had to make them with MS Powerpoint or Paint. Speaking of meme websites, I was one of the first submitters to memebase.com and still have one of the top accounts there despite having migrated to reddit nearly 2 years ago. It was on 4chan and memebase where I cut my teeth creating memes, way before I had a reddit account and way before /r/adviceanimals was created in late 2010. Back before I could get any sort of points or even username recognition, I was creating memes as a clever and easily digestible way to reflect on society, relate some story to my audience, or just be funny.
