Hows the dutch side?

Its better. It has a much reduced welfare state. I think mothers on the dutch side only get a few hundreds bucks/month for each kid so they have a job as well and the marriage rate is higher (according to the tour guide and the few ppl that I have discussed it with since living here). The women on the french side get $1200 or so per month. It is ashame because the French side is gorgeous and Marigot and Orient bay (nude beach with French college girls last weekend )are awesome, but the rest of the French side is like west africa.

Dad died in 1989, Mom (no pics but think Heddy Lamar) died in 1997. Since they are both in the ground I think they are probably both Free Soil Party adherents.

I'm also against slavery but a bit more politically active than they are, they've only voted in Cook County Illinois a couple of times over the past decade.

When my dad was alive he was a junkie version of Dale Gribble. He loved alcohol, coke, cigarettes, pills, pot, and his shortwave radio.

My mom is a lot like me except she has more sympathy for people than I do and she isn't nearly as cynical. This tends to cause her to go all lib-prog on certain occasions. We usually agree about most issues except legalizing drugs.

My step dad is the stereotypical tea party guy. Signs, goofy hats and stuff. Retired military officer and plays golf 4-5 times a week. We agree about many things except legalizing drugs.

Yes, but for different reasons.

I'm a conservative Christian, but my parents would vote to make us a theocracy if they could.

I was a supporter of Romney in both 08 and 12. My parents couldn't vote for him because he was Mormon.

My maternal grandmother was a social security disability thief. My mom doesn't like it when I talk about those type people.

Mother in law is fiscally liberal/social conservative. She doesn't like abortion but thinks we should pay for everybody's healthcare. Against illegal immigration but pro welfare.

My parents were moderate Democrats and dad was in a union. If they were alive today I suspect they would vote for moderate republicans.

But, no, my views are more conservative.

I share the same economic views as my parents. We differ on several social issues given that they are Christian and I am not, and they are not quite as disillusioned as I am with the republican party, but for the most part we agree.

I'm thankful that I had parents who actively took the time to try and explain the issues to me growing up and encouraged me to look into them and form intelligent opinions.

Parents are hardcore neocons. They believe America is a Christian nation founded to spread the word of Jesus. The irony is lost on them when they complain about Muslims and the like in America. When I bring up the first amendment, Dad says its because the founding fathers didn't expect Muslims to exist or be a factor, so freedom of religion doesn't apply to them. Mom told me I would have been a hippie in the 60s.

I'm also thankful that my Christian parents are educated enough to laugh at people like this.
