They won't find a damn thing. And even if they do, they wont have video. And even if they have video, the sound will be of poor quality. Let's just move on with the important work of the American People and stop with the witch hunts!

I guess there is still intent to deliberately target conservative groups...
Ah, yes.
So, because the IRS may no longer be (at least not at this moment) deliberately targeting conservative groups... Lois Lerner should go free. People should leave her alone. She should recieve a tax-payer provided pension. All attempts at uncovering her criminal actions should be dropped. After all, she owns neither a horse nor a car elevator. Nothing to see here, move along.

Meanwhile I hear Jerry Maddoff is no longer defrauding investors. Perhaps he should go free as well?

These emails are scrubbed to hell and back. Anyone that thinks differently is delusional. They have probably had them for months cleaning them up.

that would be 41 emails per day over 2 years assuming 365 days per year. Not likely but possible.

Do they mean sent by Lerner or recovered from her hard drive? She could easily have received that many. Especially with the number of department-wide emails that probably go out.

I absolutely agree with that sentiment. Nothing ticks me off more than long meetings and everlasting projects.

You're looking at this the wrong way: They executed almost flawlessly. Senators targeting individual groups to gain an unfair advantage during an election year, a compliant IRS as their henchmen, who coordinated with the DOJ and White House legal counsel to make sure they covered their tracks the best they could.

The story broke in April 2010. Four fricking years ago. Were it any industry other than big government, the legal / compliance folks in charge would have made damn sure they knew:
a) where the backup tapes were
b) what was on the backup tapes
c) Prepared a defense of what was on those backup tapes.

I personally believe that they did a & b, but knew that c was going to destroy them because of the amount of evidence.

I also believe they purposely turned it into an everlasting project hoping the public would forget, or exhaust the statute of limitations.

The alternate theory is that it was a couple of rogue employees acting at the direction of Senators Franken, Cummings, and Schumer - and that the employees acted out of fear of retribution from these powerful senators.

You have a few things to learn. Even the janitors at the IRS have more power than Senators. It's a bureau of our Treasury. . .come on, you should know better.
