All we need to have a functioning offense is upperclassmen with NFL first round ability at all the skill positions.

Mett got drafted in the first? Or was ever projected to go anywhere near the first?

Hill?

Landry?

He said first round "ability".

None of those guys had first round ability as clearly demonstrate by the draft. But don;t let facts get in the way.

Good teams have good players, that's nothing new.

Do you think Bama's offense would be any good if they didn't have the draftable players ins kill positions that they have?

It's bring down the program at any cost to these people. It's even more important than their credibility.

I think you mean relatively average. As in relative to what we have been just a few years ago.
This athletic dept is still very much above average.

Cameron had 4 NFL starters at skill positions in 2013, yet he couldn't field a top 40 passing game, nor could he field a top 30 offense.

I think it's quite ridiculous that our offense coordinator requires 4 NFL starters at skill positions just to produce an offense that's barely in the top 1/3 in the country.

How many schools just in the SEC would trade the last 10 years with us. All but two I'd wager. But yea, we're just average.

I love how one down year brings all the doom and gloom people out. I really wish they'd just jump off the bandwagon and never come back.

How would our offense look in any other conference? Or do we ignore the defensive talent of the conference to try to make this stupid point?

True. But today's stats are always a bit misleading when compared to other historical stats. Florida would have been first in 1995 had the SECCG and Bowl Game stats been counted.

We had the 7th best offense in the SEC in 2013.

The record setting LSU offense with four NFL starters barely finished in the top half of the SEC in offense.

This is so silly. Any criticism of the program, legitimate or not, is met with stupid responses like this. Like a "true fan" must only praise LSU, and must ignore any problems that may be staring them in the face.

So yeah, the records just go away. Ranking offenses? Really? It's as is you don't realize what goes on in some other conferences.

I'll wait and see how this year's athletic season plays out.

Caldwell? I have to agree that she has entirely too much job security right now. Yes, we've gotten better each year under her (until now), but there was always concern that Caldwell couldn't sign anyone if she begged for it. Such a strange deal, because at the time she was the hottest name in WBB.

Not sure how you blame Alleva for football. there was never an opportunity to fire Miles, and he has given the program more than enough resources

The jury is still our for Johnny, but I think he's the right guy for the job.

baseball remains elite

We're about to be badass at every mid-major spring sport outside of swimming, which is a sport I wish LSU would discontinue.

I wouldn't say mediocre in football or baseball... Actually very good but not elite

It has already been stated that we were 7 out of 14 in the SEC. That's average, not "record setting" simply because all of our offensive production came from 4 players.

Yeah, the OP is being extremely hyperbolic describing the state of the football and baseball programs. Does he really think any rational, competent AD would tell Maineri and Miles to take a hike?

We're about to be really, really good in just about every sport outside of swimming and women's basketball

Alleva botched the Caldwell contract, but that's about all I see. Don't mention the Jones raise, because he earned what is chump change for the AD. Very fair raise

Extremely hyperbolic? I simply stated facts.

The elite LSU baseball program hasn't won a game in Omaha since 2009. Where's the hyperbole?

Men's basketball hasn't won a NCAA Tournament game since 2009. Again, where's the hyperbole?

I wasn't advocating for the firing of any of the coaches. As I stated in the last line of the OP, if we're going to be average, fine. That's great - but the coaches shouldn't be rewarded for producing average teams.

I have a problem with the fact that Cameron is one of, if not the highest paid offensive coordinater in the country, and yet our offensive is incredibly insipid, one dimensional, and inept. Don't ignore the fact that Jennings has been in the system for almost 2 full years and has shown zero progression as a QB.

Jones is a fine coach, but a .500 record in the SEC over the past two seasons, with zero other accomplishments, shouldn't be rewarded with a raise.

Simply put, LSU fans are paying stellar prices for not so stellar products.
