Almost 450 homers and 10 straight GG's isn't too much to snicker at

ETA: Arguably the best defensive CF of all time

No way, he was viewed as being really inconsistent.. But dang I didn't realize his career numbers ended up looking that good.

make that .254 .304 and then we're talking. That alone would increase his RBI by a couple hundred. So yeah, if he was

.304/434/1500/10x

but as is, nope. not close.

probably not a HOFer but he was the best centerfielder I've ever seen

He's a lot better than a lot of people give him credit for. Nevertheless, he's still definitely not a HOFer.

Yeah, I impulsively made this thread after seeing the Griffey one. He'll get some votes but I forgot how many inconsistent, terrible years he put together

No, he ranks 118 on the career RBI list, in between Dale Brouthers and Scott Rolen.

I think he won't get in, but you could make a case for him. He was a really good hitter and probably the best defender in the game for a stretch.

Batting average and RBIs are terrible ways to evaluate players' values. But a good bit of hall voters don't seem to realize that.

Id say no but he's an interesting case.. He's arguably one of the best CFers of all time and had some solid pop to his bat..

I feel like he could have been if he had more plate discipline. His ability to hit pitches out of the zone probably combated this a bit, but good lord he chased so much

He was my absolute favorite player as a kid. He and Tony Clark got me into baseball
