Of course it is. Not necessarily down on my Tigers. I'll always be a fan, but we cannot deny the failures of our team over the last 6-7 years. I'm not pointing blame at any single entity because it's not. I'll just make a list.

1. Les Miles's/Wilson/OC inability to recruit QBs. Yes. Mett was a great QB for LSU in his last year, but over Les's tenure, no QB has developed fairly much. You can call it a recruiting bust, because it happens at other positions other than QB, but QB is the most important. We haven't had a good QB outside of Mett since 2007. It's 2014. That's not okay. Whether or not BH develops or AJ develops is irrelevant. I'm not asking for a 3500 yard passer or whatever - at least a "game manager" (ala AJ Mcarron/JL(2011)/Matt Flynn. Someone who can open up the game if necessary.

2. Recruiting. Yes. We've pulled in a good class last year, but recruiting is a different beast. Some players are dedicated to LSU and will choose them no matter what, but others watch what is happening and judge based on that. LSU plays games not to lose. The last time I saw LSU play not to lose was Bama 2012. Who cares if you lose as long as you go down trying? Open it up. What's the difference losing 17-0 with 15 passes or 17-0 with 30 passes? Effort. You're telling me you recruited a QB who can't complete a 5 yard pass. BS. Throw. That's both the QBs fault for not producing and the coaches for not developing/putting in the situation. Either way, recruits see the way LSU plays and judge based on that. What's the difference between LSU's loss to Arky and Bama's to OM's? Effort. Bama tried the whole time. LSU laid over. That sticks.

Why would any tight end, QB, Wr ever go to LSU? Ridiculous.

3. Style. Hit on this earlier. It's not whether or not you lose, it's how you do it. There's a difference between losing in overtime in the GOTC or getting blown out 21-0/17-0. People look at that and deduce certain aspects of realization. LSU is a good team. LSU could have beaten Arkansas. Running 32 plays for 38 yards. It happens. But at what point do you just say to hell with it and run a wide open offense? It matters. When people lose to LSU, it's always credited to a hard nose fought game that hit you in the mouth. When LSU loses, it's always LSU refuses to do anything different.

4. Loyalty. LSU has a bad habit with "over loyalty". Now, as a member of the military, loyality is one of my biggest attributes, but at some point, enough is enough. Just because it's senior day doesn't mean you need to get considerable snaps. Just because you're a senior doesn't mean you need to start. The university pays you to win football games. At 5M a year, you should win 10 games a year in theory. Go down fighting. I understand you should give a starter confidence but at sometimes you have to pull the plug (Welter/Jennings/Adams/). Play the best players. Play to win.

I could go on and on. I really don't feel like it. I really have only one point. As a true tiger fan, I know we can do better COLLECTIVELY. I want to see us succeed and I just feel like we're not doing that. There's a reason the coaches are in their positions. It's to teach and to grow every player that passes through, whether first round pick or walk on. At a program such as LSU, it should be a higher quality than most and one of the highest in the country.

In the end: till the day I die.

one of those got yanked

one of those is a sophomore, got yanked, and then got put back in

one of those isn't a starter, and is an extremely good player, and a fast rising talent.

I like Les as a person. I don't know what to think about the guy as a coach anymore. He now seems like a dictator to me. He's a top notch recruiter. However, like its been pointed out a thousand times in the last 2 weeks, he seems to not recruit guys that fit his system and he'll live and die by that system at all costs, which is why I now think of him as sort of a dictator. You really never get a straight answer from the guy about anything and he does things that make even the sun shiniest of pumpers scratch their heads. Before this year, I did think that 2015' and 16' would be the years that make championship runs again. I no longer feel that way. Next year the O-line will be depleted and i fear, we'll have this same qb issue again except worse. It took until the Fla game for a line full of veterans to get their shite straight. Imagine a bunch of 1st year starters. These next 2 years will be Miles' legacy. It'll determine whether he was a good coach or a great coach.

You need to look up the definition of "fan".
If you think the last 6-7 were a failure then you should give up sports and start knitting.

Great post. Pumpers don't want to hear this kind of thing, but most fans expect to win. Losing is acceptable if a valid attempt is made, which sure seems to not be happening lately.

Ha. I don't believe that the last 6-7 years have been a failure at all. I remember the 90's. I do however think we have underperformed.

Next. I threw Adams in there because he didn't start till about halfway through the season. You could easily change him out with any number of players over the years that should have started over someone else.
