Movie would be a lot less climactic today without the need for the van full of maps. Kids these days have no appreciation for what it used to mean to pull out a map.

That being said, I love the movie. Great stuff.

The beginning of the film always makes me laugh.

Along with most of the rest of the film.

Terrible movie. That being said, love it. Guilty pleasure.

Roll the maps. We don't need any creases through Wichita.

It's a fun, popcorn movie that doesn't pretend to be something it is not. Good performances from Paxton, Hunt, Hoffman and others suggest there was good chemistry and good direction.

de Bont had only directed Speed prior to this, and his career veered off when he did poorly in the ill-advised sequel to that film.

Interesting trivia - Dutchman de Bont is one of SEVENTEEN (17) children.

ETA: Another point - first Hollywood film released on DVD.

I love the bad guy weathermen in their black trucks.

I've also always had a thing for Helen Hunt.
