Found a snake shed in my stand a few weeks ago, do snakes usually return where they shed, or is there no cause for concern?

I'd check under the chair, but it's pretty damn cold right now, it'll be slow if it's there.

If it's in there when I show up tomorrow, I'm gonna ruin my afternoon hunt by unloading a clip. Hahahaha

Here in the Virginia mountains, we gotta really watch out for them snow snakes when it gets cold. Their two little black, beady eyes are about all you can see when there's snow on the ground and they're almost perfectly camo'd. If you don't believe me, just ask aVatiger. Never seen one in a stand, though...

He is probably just seeking warm place. Be sure to tighten the drawstrings at the bottom of your hunting pants.

How big is skin? Once it gets cold, larger snakes have a harder time absorbing heat and therefore stay hibernated through the winter. Only the smaller snakes will poke their head out a bit when they can get some warmth, so if it is big, it is not likely to be back out til next year unless it warms up a bit.

Ole Geauxt,

I'm pretty sure the OP didn't mean a hair clip.

Maybe one of these.

I would have never felt safe in the stand again. Would be constantly paranoid. Plus the weather is getting warm

You bet your arse. She went there to shed because it where she feels safest. They are quite vulnerable when they shed, so that tells me the stand is basically her bedroom.

And that's no bullshite.

Well shite, I hope it doesn't return. The shed wasn't that big, so I am not that scared, but would rather not have to deal with it when I get in the stand.
