I own a tahoe, with a third row in it, there is practically no space for luggage... no way they had a third row in going to disney. I can almost guarantee that they only had 5 seat belts available in that car

It's a tragedy no matter the ages of those killed. I'm betting they weren't warring seatbelt because most of them were sleeping. Not saying I agree, just what I'm guessing. Plus, with 8 in the car, they're a seatbelt short if the Tahoe had a third row.

Very sad to hear.

Yea, I didn't see the age of the kids. Feel horrible for them because they didn't know any better... but their death is due to their parents. I don't blame the driver in this one.

Yeah the parents are ultimately responsible and they paid with their own lives. They made two mistakes

1. Not making sure everyone in the car was buckled up.

2. Allowing a 16 year old to dive on the interstate in the middle of the night.

Didn't think about that... ok well even if they had a third row in. There would only be 7 seat belts. Also if the car had captain chairs instead of the bench. Make it 6 seat belts. Not sure which number.
But no matter what, there was no possible way to have enough seat belts in the car.

Also yea the parents paid with their lives, but they made their kids pay too. Not fair

Horrific.

So many things could have been done differently in this situation that may have prevented this.

This here was close to home. Terrible when these things happen and a big reason I rarely go over the speed limit with kids in car.
Fatal Accident on I-10 near Bluff road in 2009.

We got off 10 and took Bluff to get around the traffic jam. Looked down to see the aftermath of this tragedy in BR. Terrible.

It was Arkansas game that day. We were headed to Gonzales to drop off kids at babysitter and hurry to campus to tailgate.

That's a hard picture to look at. I have a good friend that's an EMT with B'ham Fire Dept. How they deal with some of the things they have to see, I'll never know.

BUT...BUT...

seat belts - should this be considered a person's choice to wear one or not?

And I got heat for saying that drivers/passengers should be required to wear them... to prevent this type of horrific shite... but according to most of these folks, "it's MY BODY and I DONT HAVE TO DO THAT"
