Gun ownership has declined by at least 15% since the 80s, and so has violent crime.

LEGAL, reported ownership, correct?

FYI - Government had no idea I owned a gun for 10 years until I got my CWP.

That the New York Times' survey conflicts with numerous reports and studies. Not to mention that there a so many variables to consider and that gun ownership, while a huge deterrent, isn't the end all be all.

It is common knowledge that gun ownership has declined.

Your gun ownership one isn't accurate when you actually conduct a survey of households.

Yeah, that's just stupid. I have 5 guns in my home that I've had for many years. The government knows nothing about them.

The only real stat I want to hear is from guys in prison.

Ask them one simple question, would you try to rob a house where you know there is no gun or would you try to rob a house where you know there IS a gun in the homeowner's hands?

Please put that graph up...thanks in advance

Also, in Ferguson during the initial riots, can you explain to me why the only store that wasn't burned or vandalized by the mob was the one with the owners out front and on the roof with loaded visible weapons?

I just don't understand why thugs would rather not frick with people who they know have loaded weapons.....it's just so damn puzzling.

If we're ever gonna make it to Mars we're gonna need to buy a lot more guns.

That getting rid of the shot-gun formation killed LSU's offense?

Oh is it, record sales, more Americans believe a gun makes their home safer than ever before, and gun control in the most densely populated areas...harping on the gun control agenda, I wouldn't admit to anyone polling or taking surveys I own a firearm.

all the numbers suggest something, and it's not a decline in gun ownership

Also, think about the craziness of polling people in different states with different demographics and different laws pertaining to firearms and then putting the results against national crime statistics.

Actually, from the early 70s until 1990, the trends of violent crime and murder were going UP while household gun ownership was going down.

Also, not every murder or violent crime is committed with a firearm.

If you actually read the first graph, you see that gun ownership has been on a steady decline since 1973

In the 2nd graph, you can see violent crime actually increased from 1960 until sometime after 1990. It didnt begin to decline until ~1992.

SO if fewer guns at home means less violent crime now, WHAT THE frick WAS GOING ON FOR THE PREVIOUS 30 YEARS?
