It really would, but would that really surprise you coming from Abrams?

Look what he did to the new Star Trek movies, die hard Trekkies are still pissed at him.

I can't believe that he would make one of the most noticeable protagonist in history a full on villain.

It's more than likely Adam Driver, but still I bet people would flip their damn shite if he actually did it.

I agree. Also, I don't like the idea of him not being able to control the force. At the end of RotJ, he was pretty talented in force use. One of the points of RotJ is that he has grown up and matured as a Jedi and as a person.

He might've matured as a person, but he came within an inch of turning to the dark side. He didn't get the real upper hand on Vader until he started giving into his anger and chopped off Vader's hand (symbolizing him taking Vader's place at the Emperor's side since he already had a robotic hand). It wasn't until the Emperor basically told him what was actually going on that Luke snapped out of it. And once he snapped out of it, the Emperor proceeded to almost kill him without absolutely any resistance by Luke whatsoever. If Anikan hadn't saved his arse, he'd have been barbecued Jedi.

Yes, Luke stopped and was willing to die than go to the dark side. You don't come back from that viewpoint.

...and if they make him half-cyborg that would totally be a rip-off of Darth Vader, and yet another steaming shite on the original trilogy.

Luke being bad would take a giant shite on the original trilogy.

Maybe he turned bad because he went back to Endor and slaughtered the entire population of Ewoks. I could accept this.

POSSIBLE SPOILERS:

I think Adam Driver plays Han's son who is moonlighting as the Sith….Luke senses he is not who is saying he is and tries to kill him, Han protests, Luke opens a giant uncontrollable drum of jedi force whoopass and somehow Han is in the way and gets injured and dies…before he dies he begs Luke not to kill his son, Luke "snaps out of it" and decides to honor his old buddy's dying request, much to his and the other heroes' chagrin as we will see in EP 8 and 9.

Let's be honest, there is a solid contingent of fans that will hate any sequel regardless of merit.

correct. If I posted the plot from the Godfather on here and it was a movie that had never been made, there would be people shooting it down…Lol how stupid and unrealistic to cut off a horse head and put it in a guy's bed…that is so lame.

I like to think that after Vader and the Emperor were killed, all of their power concentrates on Luke, and he is completely unable to contain it. Something happens and in an event, someone he loves is killed and he is maimed (thus the cyborg shite). This is when he goes into seclusion to protect that universe.

I just wish the villain was someone other than a Sith.

Maybe Jedi bounty hunters who are trained in killing Jedi better than most Sith.

Just seems safe to go straight back to the Sith

I always wanted this next trilogy to be based off of the X-Wing series of books. The rebels work their way toward taking Imperial Center, then struggle to hold it from a gorilla force led by Ysane Isard, who has a hidden SSD buried in the planet that blasts off, destroying miles of cityscape and killing millions in the process, blasting her way OUT of the planet's protection grid.

It is entirely plausible that Luke could have lost control of the Force and exiled himself (how sweet would it be if he went back to Dagobah to do this) but my question is this: Would Luke not have tried to teach the Force to Leia? Would he not have consulted Anakin, Obi Wan, or Yoda in times of need?

He had a pretty solid support system around him at the end of RotJ. What could make him go rogue, so to speak, and not be able to control the Force?

Seeing that the good that he sensed in his father prevailed, it seems like it confirmed to him that he was meant to be a Jedi.

These are probably just my own thoughts more than meant for discussion. I just don't have anyone to talk Star Wars to in person.

Maybe he did teach Leia. Maybe he did consult his dead mentors. Maybe he was more powerful in the force than any of them could have ever imagined.

Anakin was destined to be, and WAS the chosen one who really brought balance to the force. Luke isn't the chosen one to bring balance, but maybe he is the most powerful. Look back at what he was able to do with so little training comparatively speaking. frick a deathstar, maybe he discovered he had the power to destroy worlds, and was scared of his lack of training to be able to control it.

Well now that you mention it, yes.

In my mind (this is fiction...) it's not something that normally happens. this particular instance had so much raw power die off at once rather than the MCs just floating off back into the universe, they converged.

But I'm not sure the Force works this way. The Force is there. It is energy that is channeled by the Jedi & Sith. Its not something that they can build up in their bodies, like a battery. I could be wrong though.
