So those that are stuck watching this show.. nothing really happened yesterday, but if you saw the previews it looks like they actually find the vault in the money pit. They pull up concrete that protects the inside of the "vault"

What the hell would a box be doing 150 feet below surface surrounded by concrete with "flood gate" booby traps? I think there's something big here the more I watch it.

Anyone else watching this show? The 500 BC theory was really interesting, and the carvings in stone want me to believe but that guy seemed like a nut job.

I have some high hopes for this season. It's frustrating though because I know if there is a big discovery I'll read about it on here before anything airs.

My favorite theory is the Louis Sinclair theory that revolves around the Knights Templar following the old Viking Sagas and landing in America during the 13th century following the Friday the 13th (when the Templars were all but run out of Europe). The Money Pit is supposedly where the Templars stashed their treasures including the ark of the covenent, holy grail, head of John the Baptist, the Spear of Destiny, and/or just a shite ton of gold.

I like that theory.

The theory that's been kicked around the past couple of episodes is that before Solomon's temple was sacked, the treasure in the temple was given to a group of people in North Africa who were traders of the sea who eventually buried it in Oak Island.

The Templar later visited the island in search of the treasure hoping to find the ark of the covenant and start New Jerusalem.

There has to be something on that island, right?

Maybe not yet but it wont be long before the island claims its final victim, Dan Blankenship.

I mean, would you build a vault with booby traps like that for no reason other than to hide something important?

I remember reading about Oak Island about 10 years ago on the internet. For about a week straight I stayed up til the wee hours each night reading all the theories and rumors. I forgot about it until I saw this show a few months ago. I really hope these guys solve the mystery. To me it is one of the most intriguing places on Earth.

The booby trap system in itself is amazing. I was watching an episode of Ancient Aliens and they think the booby trap system had to be created by aliens.

Agree. If they were on kickstarter I would contribute

It's pretty much the same theories over and over again every episode.

Welcome to the party, pal.

I've been hooked for almost 40 years. F*cking library book in elementary school.

Is there any proof that they were actual booby traps?

All I keep seeing is there were tunnels that water was going into that were blocked, but once they dug down to them they collapsed. Doesn't seem possible people that long ago could dig tunnels and block water the way they did and that deep.

Seems more like an underwater well of some sort that finally collapsed due to them digging up so much stuff.

That geologist was so close to the vault in the 70s. Unbelievable that he failed and then buried all the progress that had been made.

Doesn't sound like any progress had been made since then until now.

I mean, all we have to go by are diagrams that have been drawn and the flooding.

If it were an underwater well then you would be able to pump the water out eventually, or atleast causing it to subside. Whereas the water just keeps filling back in the tunnels, which leads me to believe that the water is coming directly from the sea.

There is little question that it is seawater - but whether it is a natural characteristic of the island, a result of, perhaps a clandestine saltworks, or intentional boobytrapping remains part of the mystery. Any answer is fascinating, for different reasons, of course.

When I first started on this topic, it was just assumed that it was a booby trap - now I'm not certain. I'm willing to go where the evidence leads us and I'm glad it is a team like Rick and Marty Lagina - Rick is the "pie in the sky" hippie guy and Marty is a "show me the money" business guy.
