Lulz, I have to get govt approval and once that happens, I have to get on nursing homes to recognize said govt approval and begin their own finance process. Oh, and we have to keep paying them while they dilly dally with that process.

same here. if IT needs new equipment or toys, it's an endless process not even worth the effort.

if the business wants a new data center in Antartica for a temporary project, no expense or timeline is non-negotiable. It will happen

Well, he just spread his hurt butt all over this thread, so we all know who this is. Just get rid of it so he doesn't kill himself when awarded.

I think that's just corporate in general

True story:

The bigs wanted to install a new $300,000 recording system ONLY b/c it showed speaker separation showing which party was talking. That was the literally the only difference between it and the system that was in place. Approved by EOD

I had a hard drive crash on a server and requested additional spares. I asked for 6 spares. Two weeks later I got approved for 2

lol, I love those type of stories around the IT water cooler. I sometimes dream about the day where there is a worldwide IT strike and corporations realize they aren't shite without IT nowadays

Next couple of weeks is going to be nutty for me. We'll see.

Next question: does everyone prefer voting the way we've done it before, just post yours in the thread, or email your votes to me or dev (since he has that spreadsheet set up)? Email would kind of keep the awards a surprise, or do you prefer the BS'ing that goes along with seeing everyone's votes?

Fact is you don't make the business money. You (IT) cost them money, but don't make it. Its like comparing most other sports to football. Yeah, there is your place and you get funded, but you aren't making the money so they get the new uniforms and state of the art facility. You get the old one. Its just the way it is.

That's the spirit of the season my man! What's the GB Awards without judging everyone and their votes and how shitty of a poster they've been this year? It's like Christmas dinner!
