To a point I agree, but Michigan doesn't get the same benefit of the doubt (not saying LSU and Michigan are equal) because Michigan has had top 5-10 classes the past 3 or 4.
When you start playing that card, it gets a bit more murky.
The bottom line, Ohio State should have beaten Va Tech and didn't. If they get left out, it will suck but it is what it is.
I think you have to have "stacked roster" + at least a number of actual good on-the-field performances.
I would easily consider Michigan exactly the same as LSU or Auburn if they were simply having an up and down season with a couple of upset losses but, like Auburn and LSU, also had a couple of marquee type wins.
This season, I'm not sure they even quite stack up to Florida, to mention another team overflowing with 4*+ recruits, as a resume builder.
As much as I've defended saying earlier that Miss St has a bit stronger resume in terms of wins and losses I'd personally still be tempted to bump Ohio St over them as conference champions. But, given the Va Tech loss, I wouldn't think it's unjust in the least either way.

I agree and I think with all things being similar, I would want Ohio State in for diversity's sake to get a true swath of college football.
Obviously that's really biased.
But as Baloo astutely pointed out before, there are very few data points that shows the SEC above and beyond all the other conferences that they deserve two representative.
It'll be interesting how it all shakes out.
I predict at least 2 of the top 7 lose before it's all said and done. Ohio State being one of the most likely since they will probably play against Wisconsin who is rolling right now.

Way to dodge msu's in-conference schedule. Osu would be lucky to go .500 in the sec west.
But since your conference sucks... And you lost to a shitty acc school, all you have left is to try to compare OOC schedules.
You can say whatever you want about fsu's conference being shitty. I just hope you realize that you are only diminishing your own position... Since you fricking lost to an acc school.
What a clown.

It was something like, "this is what it looks like to beat an SEC team for a Championship."
But you OSU fans wouldn't know anything about that. All you do is lose and whine about OOC schedules.

I take it back, you are mad, you don't seem sad.

If Ohio State played a joke of a OOC schedule, they would be undefeated and we wouldn't be having this conversation.
:mindblown:
Ohio State lost to Va Tech. What the shite are you talking about?!

He's still salty from the nd loss.
Sos difference isn't very big between fsu and osu.
The big difference is in the loss column.

Yeah, that will pretty much always be the case since it's probably better than ever in terms of most teams at least playing one big OOC game a season.
Unfortunately, there's nothing to do but go on the little data there actually is.
I don't think that the committee should really be thinking in terms of "does the SEC deserve two teams" as much as just looking at the specific schedule of the SEC teams in discussion.
Mainly, how many difficult wins do they have, which is to say how many quality wins do the teams they beat or lost to have?
At that point, the debate surrounding a conference getting two representatives simply turns on how much a conference championship counts?
It will interesting to see.
I can see both sides in that a team like Miss St would perhaps be out simply by having had the misfortune of playing Alabama at home but at the same time including them diminishes the "national" appeal of the national championship playoff when there are other teams with very similar credentials.

If OSU played either of their in-conference schedules, they'd be revealed as the big pile of dog shite that they are.

I want to see the chaos created by OSU falling to Indiana, Baylor dropping to KSU, and TCU falling to Texas.
