I agree what many have said in here. The NBA is putting out a pretty good product right now despite there best efforts.

Believe it or not I think it is great when the same five teams are not dominating.

I am more inclined not to watch a game featuring the Knicks, Lakers, Celtics. I got tired of seeing the same damn teams compete and get all of the national air time. I like watching the Warriors, Thunder, Blazers, Spurs a lot more.

The NFL is sucking the life out of the sport by banning hitting, and only having 14 padded practices and no 2-a-days (negotiated into the CBA). They are resting on their laurels. It's getting soft and the product will continue to suffer in the form of blowouts and inconsistent mediocre play.

I'm guessing you haven't heard about the new TV/Media deal for the NBA....

I don't think you know what "despite" means.

College football is great.

College basketball bores me to death and I have quit watching it entirely.

Fantasy Football makes pro football wildly entertaining for me. Without fantasy football, I couldn't care less about pro football.

I enjoy LSU baseball, but the professional season is too fricking long. I start watching pro baseball when the playoffs begin.

I've always told people I like the NFL more than the NBA, but I don't think that's true anymore.

I took the year off, and it makes me realize I'm not the fan I thought I was.

in spite of...

Does it mean something different to you?

It is no secret that the NBA has been catering to their bigger markets forever. Well, a lot of those teams are down now and this provides more parody across the league which I think (just my opinion) has helped boost interest.

This helps fans from all market levels take interest in the league and not just those attached to a big market or the bandwagon fans.

The NBA has had the problem it has always had: a virtually meaningless regular season. Not only do they have a long, boring season, upsets in the playoffs beyond 1-2 seed lines are pretty rare. So, really, things don't get going unitl the second round of the playoffs.

That said, last year was one of their most wild playoffs in NBA history, and it also came with a glut of long series. I do think the 80s were more exciting because defense hadn't been invented yet, but cheap shots abounded leading to some true bad blood that we just don't see in pro sports anymore (salaries are too big for people to risk truly injuring one another). But I think the NBA has its highest quality of play since the 80s, and it's certainly light years ahead of the early post-Jordan era, which was cringe-inducingly awful.

We could use some more genuine hatred, but I think those days are gone. Things like the Bad Boy Pistons could not exist in today's NBA (or any pro league).

If the Grizzlies/Warriors/Kings run into the Clippers or Bulls vs. Cavs happens in the playoffs you will see some genuine hatred.
