Google's trusted places: You never have to unlock your phone at home again

Lollipop = Awesome

I don't make a habit of counting how many times I unlock my phone, but I'm willing to believe the stats that say the average user does it hundreds of times each day. That can be an unnecessary chore when using a device in a place safe from malfeasant interference, such as your home, which is why Google has now introduced the option to add trusted places to Android 5.0's Smart Lock. As with the two existing options, trusted faces and trusted devices, the new location-based automatic unlocker bypasses the usual lock screen when it detects the proper circumstances. You can set multiple trusted locations and it works without adding any delays to accessing the phone.

Just another reason Lollipop is the best mobile OS yet.

Wow, I will actually go back to encrypting my phone again.

Reminds me of a jailbreak app that has the same function but uses wifi to know what area you are in and if it needs to have a lock code or not.
I always use a passcode just because of habit now but this needs to be implemented in all phones and computers.

Thats my thought as well.
One thing Apple has done almost perfectly is the fingerprint unlock. Just press the button and my phone wakes up unlocked. I'd never want my phone just freely sitting around unlocked due to a wifi signal.

Don't forget the Orwellian irony of Google associating one of its products with the word "trusted".

Just another example of a company stealing ideas from developers.
I have been using the xposed module 'no lock home' for a while now. It allows you to choose WiFi networks or Bluetooth devices as trusted.

id say most people would prefer a stranger go thru their phone than their significant other or children.
I think you're right, but what kind of double lives are you people leading

My thoughts exactly!
I never lock my phone now because of the inconvenience. My wife locks hers but she's given me the password and let me scan my fingerprint in case I need to access it. We've got nothing to hide.
But being able to set my house, work, and car (if locations to bluetooth devices is an option) would be awesome. Then I could set a lock code for anywhere else to protect my info from thieves.

I really like the bluetooth device option. So any time I am in my car, I never have to unlock it. Also, the home network option is awesome since I dont care if my wife looks through anything on my phone. She might not like some of the things (some fappening files) she would find, but its not divorce-able material haha
I have my work wifi network currently because I work in a very small building with keycard access only. If I were to move to a larger area in the institution, I don't think I would keep that as an option

Awesome. I've been wanting this in iOS for a few years now. TouchID has negated most of that want, but location unlocking is still nice.

I feel the same way about Knock Code. People have no idea what I'm doing even if I show them.

i love touchID but would really like location based locking, if its in my car or my house, I don't need to worry about hte lock code.
